Although Felix's job had nothing to do with non-human animals & no one suspected him of neglecting or mistreating his dog, he lost his job because he lost his dog. How come??

Interesting.....

Felix is H? A? M?

The dog he lost- Was it his pet? It's a real dog isn't it?

Did the loss of his dog imply to his employer that he couldn't be trusted? Did his job involve looking after something valuable?

Did he find his dog subsequently ? Is that relevant?

Would a reasonable person find felix's dismissal fair?

Is it relevant how his employers found out that he had lost his dog?

Interesting..... Just wait!!

Felix is H? yes A? yes M? yes

The dog he lost- Was it his pet? yes It's a real dog isn't it? yes

Did the loss of his dog imply to his employer that he couldn't be trusted? noish Did his job involve looking after something valuable? yes

Did he find his dog subsequently ? irrel Is that relevant? no

Would a reasonable person find felix's dismissal fair? I think it's very unfair, & you all know how reasonable I am. But can reasonable people disagree about the dismissal? Decide for yourself after the puzzle is solved!!

Is it relevant how his employers found out that he had lost his dog? yesish

Did felix admit to losing the dog? Did it come up in general conversation? Did his employer overhear felix saying he had lost the dog?

Was this an outright sacking offence or just the straw that broke the camel's back?

Would finding out Felix's occupation make the solution obvious? I'm loathe to post the LTPF list of occupations?

Was it a guide dog? A sledding dog? Did he lose his dog during working hours? During the course of his work? Would it help to discover the breed of dog? Was he actually present when the dog disappeared? Was the dog stolen? Did the dog assist him in his work in any way?

Is he a dogfood taster? (I'm assured that such a thing exists.)

Would it help to find out how he lost his dog?

Did the loss of dog suggest to his employer that he had committed a criminal offence? Or just that he was incompetent? Would it work for a cat? A goldfish?

Did Felix try to find the dog? Go looking for it? Put up "Lost dog" posters? And in doing so create negative publicity?

Not sure if this has been asked...you said that finding his job would not make the solution obvious, but would it still be good idea? Or could he have any job for this to work? Does his work require secrecy? Anonymity? Keeping a low profile?

Could he have reacted in a different way to the loss of his dog, and not lost his job?

When he was looking for his dog, did he do something that was forbidden by his employer? Did he do something that was against the law?

Does/is his job:
require a university education?
require a postgraduate education?
involve physical labor?
performed mostly in an office?
performed mostly outdoors?
involve travel in a vehicle?
involve working with customers?
involve criminal activity?

*********** SPOILER **************

Harmless but clueless Felix lost his dog. A child came by & asked him why he was peering under cars, calling out "Mopsy?" etc. Upon being told that Felix had lost his dog, the child offered to help & Felix gratefully accepted the offer, not realizing that his behavior is now taken to be a sign of a pedophile trying to lure a child. When the child's mother emerged from the store that the child was supposed to wait outside, she called the police. Felix was arrested, but, even nowadays, he was not charged, since his record was clean & he could prove that he had actually lost his dog.But the mother didn't believe him, & when she found out he was a grade-school teacher, contacted the school.Only in criminal court are Americans required to be held innocent until proven guilty. So poor Felix lost his job--& I have gained an opportunity to post a new pouzzle at the bottom of the page.

I asked earlier if a reasonable person would find Felix's dismissal unfair, I can now answer (as a reasonable person myself) with a very loud YES. Poor Felix another victim of today's overbearing overprotective society.

I agree, but note that only some people are protected. People like Felix are not, nor are the poor or. . . .
