Here's how it goes: I'm a visa officer, and I will hand out visas to you if you tell me your name, where you're going, and what you will be taking with you, and I will tell you if I am willing to give you the visa or not. I have a rule in mind according to which I will grant visas. For example: I have granted a visa to Bianca Chandra, who is going to Bolivia with an ant. In this case, my rule is - The person has to go to a country whose name starts with the same letter as that person's name, with something which starts with the same letter as the last letter of that person's name. I hope I haven't made it too long-winded... You don't have to use your own name while guessing. I'm not sure this comes in the domain of "Lateral Puzzles", but I'll start this off and see how many people are interested! Hope you have fun :-) | ||

Was just waiting for one granted visa to get underway :P Thoughts: Only the surname of the person is relevant, haven't yet tested the country but the first letter of the (first noun, where relevant, of the) thing being taken is relevant also PRESUMING it is a letter based rule which I personally would prefer to eliminate the possibility of before trying other routes but will still appreciate any approach that acquires more granted visas to work with :P Also, believing the rule to be a fairly simple one, this being the first instance of such a puzzle and the host perhaps wishing to encourage future interest, I would guess that it is only the first letter of the surname that's relevant too... Thoughts: First name didn't appear to be relevant but must apparently have at least two letters? It seems to be relevant that the surname in the Uganda/goose example has R as the third letter but there doesn't appear to be any requirement regarding specific letters in UGANDA as I learnt from my last post. Finally it does appear to be relevant that the object in the Christopher/Uganda example begins with a G. Normally I would now proceed to test the above with the new hints given but I just finished a REALLY long post on one of my own puzzles and desperately need a short break from the computer! :P | ||

Good ones, Crazypalpig! One of the rules appears to be: take the third letter of the surname, move forward three letters in the alphabet and that's the first letter of the place to visit. Example: ChRistopher -->(S,T)--> Uganda. We just have to figure out the object bit... | ||

I haven't heard of Zuich either :P I lied about the previous post being my last it seems... I realised after posting it that none of my questions would be testing the correct rule (I'd let myself get fooled by responses to previous questions that I had written! I now believe I know the correct rule (which I thought I'd eliminated but hadn't). However I will not post correct questions to test the things I wanted to test earlier as this would be too much of a hint for those of you who are still solving. What I will do though is ask if Tanvishashikant could look at my questions and see what conditions I was meaning to test and answer them again as if my slight adaption of her rule were true so I can work out what the answers would have been for her rule had I asked the right questions. Hopefully she understands what I mean by that request. (: | ||

Ok, I think we have waited enough... It seems to me that the rule is the following: you grant a visa if, according to the English alphabet, the third letter of the surname comes three places before the first letter of the place to visit AND the fifth letter of the place comes three places before the first letter of the object. | ||

So Arek'fu was very close, but for the second part, instead of the fifth letter, it is the second to last letter of the country that must be three places before the first letter of the object. All the countries in the previously granted visas happened by chance to have 6 letters, that's why it was not possible to know before. | ||
