SVV is a term coined by Woubit. In his words:
quote:Everyone asks it sooner or later, and since it was my fault for inventing the term, it is my duty to explain it. "svv" stands for "sufficiently vague values", a variation on the mathematical term "slv" for "sufficiently large values" (as in "2 + 2 = 5 for slv of 2"). It means that the term you have used is not wrong, but not precisely correct, and that exploration might help.
"LTPF lists" is practically a dead metaphor describing a reference to supposed lists of well-known items in a group, such as letters of the alphabet, integers, continents, etc. This is intended to save time by preventing puzzlers from making repetitive guesses. For example, a puzzler might be asking where a puzzle takes place. He might say "Consider LTPF list of continents." Rather than having to list them. |

***RECAP**** They told her about it, but she didn't see any evidence. 1)"They" = involved in the media 2)Media =/= newspaper, Internet, magazine, or any other advertising 3)"She" = H A F 4)Her geographical location is relevant. 5)"It" = an occurrence 6)"It" is occurring in the present, for SVV of "present." 7)Europe, North America, and Asia are relevant. 8)The occurrence is having a global impact. 9)"Global warming" is not relevant. 10)Her profession is not relevant. 11)Her age is not relevant. 12)The 2008 United States Presidential Election is not relevant. 13)Sarah Palin is not relevant. 14)The host of this puzzle is DoctaPeppa. 15)DoctaPeppa generally uses tries to come up with a misleading title, trying to create as many FA's as possible. 16)The solution to DoctaPeppa's puzzles are generally extremely random and have nothing to do with any part of the puzzle statement. |

It's been a while since this puzzle has received any TLC, so I'll go ahead with another ***RECAP**** They told her about it, but she didn't see any evidence. 17) One would hope this would not be a regular or cyclical occurrence. 18)One would also hope that this would not be constant. 19) It would be best if this was a one-time (or zero-time) thing. 20) The media in question is something on television that isn't an advertisement. 21) This event was also discussed on the radio, but that which is relevant to the puzzle is what was on television. 22) "She" is not my respective maternal figure. 23) Religious persecution isn't that much, if any, more relevant than other kinds of persecution. 24) The brilliant D Gordon has already been able to solve this puzzle, based only on what is discussed in this thread and the many hints that I told USMC Fink that I spread across the various puzzle threads in the Forum. 25) This can be solved right now if somebody would just ask a certain question (or two).

I hate to do this, but I'm afraid I must issue an ultimatum with this last recap. If this puzzle is not solved by the first of January, I will be forced to terminate it. So, here we go! *************RECAP***************** They told her about it, but she didn't see any evidence. 1)"They" = people on television 2)"She" = H A F 3)Her geographical location is relevant. 4)"It" = the Russian invasion of Georgia 5)Europe, North America, and Asia are relevant. 6)Her profession is not relevant. 7)Her age is not relevant. 8) "She" is not my respective maternal figure. |

As I promised, I will go ahead and put this puzzle out of its misery. *********SPOILER***************** American Girl Asks 'I Live In Georgia, Should I Be Worried About Russia?' A Yahoo Answers user was concerned about the recent Russian invasion of South Ossetia and Georgia. She lives in the U.S. state of Georgia and is worried whether Russians will attack her home state. Yahoo Answers is a free service, where the questions and answers are posted by members and they share knowledge with each other. And those who post good answers earn points. Those who earn more points get the rights to answer first or answer exclusively at all levels. Some questions and answers are very helpful but some are trivial and silly. In the latter category, a question was posted by a girl named “Jessica B” in Yahoo Answers. This question has been deleted by Yahoo Answers, and the link points to a cached image of the question. <http://i37.tinypic.com/2wnsp6w.jpg>
quote:"I live in georegia but i dont see rusia no where not even sound but they says theres tanks should i be worrie”. “i herd on the news that rusia has invaded but i dont see them no where wats going on."
She made numerous spelling mistakes, but it could also just be a text message. She got a good reply from a fellow member in Yahoo with the following answer:
quote:You are in the state of Georgia. The nation of Georgia is on the other side of the world.
It is not clear whether it was posted for fun or it was a real concern from a local resident. But this item has been picked up by Digg.com and has received more than 4,000 Diggs about it. One of the digg commenter said the following and believes that this question might be a true one:
quote:We do this thing once a week called current events. On this particular day we were discussing the tropical storm in Florida. I hear from the girl in front of me, 'You know, we should be talking about how we just went to war with Russia'", wrote PhineasMcSimp.
As the article <http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/2603182/south-ossetia-conflict-concerned-us-citizen-gets-her-georgias-confused.html> points out, the state Georgia has been invaded by the British troops in the past but the Russians have never invaded Georgia or any other part of the states in the history of the U.S. I just hope this question is a hoax. Source: http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/258912 To her credit, though, it seems that Google may have misinterpreted the news a bit, as well. See: <http://valleywag.gawker.com/5034988/google-news-informs-us-that-the-russians-are-invading-the-south> |
