Martina opened a jug of wine, stood on the sidewalk, & drank from the jug, even though she knew that was illegal & she didn't particularly want the wine. How come?? | ||

Did she do it because it was illegal? If it hadn't been illegal, would she still have done it? Was she protesting the law? Was she trying to attract attention to herself for breaking the law? Was she trying to prove a point about people's reactions (or lack thereof) to someone breaking the law? someone breaking this particular law? Is it relevant that she was drinking wine? Or would another alcoholic beverage work as well? Were there other people drinking on the sidewalk at the same time as Martina? | ||

Anything you could open up a jug of & drink on the street would work, provided the alcohol content was pretty high. (Puzzle regulars know that I'm not an expert on booze!) She didn't particularly want the wine...but did she have to drink it for some reason? Was she trying to stave off methanol poisoning? Was she trying to get drunk? Was she trying to dispose of the wine? Was she trying to keep someone else from drinking the wine? Did she want people to see her drinking the wine? Did she care whether people saw her drinking the wine? | ||

had she just been involved in an accident? and wanted to drink some alcohol where people could see her do it after the accident so that when the police tested her for alcohol she could say she had a high blood level because she had drunk after, not before, the accident? when in fact she had been drinking before? | ||

Anyway, Clever Hannah has solved this one. Martina was driving drunk & got in an accident. So she opened a jug of wine & started drinking it so when the police came, they would be unable to prove that she hadn't gotten drunk after the accident rather than before. I am so humiliated at posting 2 super-easy puzzles in a row that I would go out & get drunk. . .if I liked booze. Instead, I'm posting a new puzzle, which I hope will be neither too easy nor too hard but just right. | ||
