Was trying to come up with a new good puzzle, but everything I could think of I found on here elsewhere, so I'll give this a shot. Questions about rule in italics. I reserve right to not-answer if I deem it fishing, or it's too much of a giveaway (unless it's a $poiler). |

According to my user subpage, CA: Can't Answer (used in CA Rulebreakers - see Common Lateral Thinking Puzzle Variations) Rulebreaker - A lateral thinking puzzle where the purpose is to identify what rule the host is using to determine his/her responses. Rulebreaker (CA) - A specialised version of the above in which the rule determines whether a question(/statement) can be answered or not (as opposed to how it's answered). |

So "Apple" can be answerable or not, depending on how you interpret it? Is it relevant that it can be both a word and a proper (brand) name? |

So "Apple" can be answerable or not, depending on how you interpret it? Is it relevant that it can be both a word and a proper (brand) name? Actually, any word/question can be answerable or not, depending on a condition. That condition is not about the part of speech or how I interpret the contents. HINT: On one of my posts, I gave a pronunciation key for how I said the questions...why would I do that? |

Does it depend on how you divide the word into syllables, so "apple" could be "app-le" or "ap-ple"? (but aren't there actually rules about this?) |

A difference between "App-le" or "Ap-ple" would not matter, but a difference between...say...the word Quinoa (keen-wah or kee-noh-uh -- both of which are valid pronunciations) would be very important (and was on one of my answers.) |

I can't see how "apple" can have more than one pronunciation--that's why I'm confused. I can see, for example, that "olapara" could be "oh-la-PAR-ah or "oh-LAP-a-ra" (with the emphasized syllable capitalized), but unlike with "apple", you gave a single answer to this one. |

I misunderstood your question a little, I believe. Though pronunciation is crucial to this puzzle (specifically, number of syllables, which I feel you got close enough to earn as a partial-$poiler), there is one other factor which is relevant, which is why some questions would be answerable sometimes but not others. |

***SPOILER*** Congrats to everyone who worked through this one, which was obviously much more obscure than I initially thought. A statement was answerable iff (if and only if) it had the same number of syllables, when spoken, as the statement that came before it. ***END SPOILER*** |
