THE MAN WHO PLAYED FOUL He got them in to get them in And happily pocketed the money, They smelled a rat and ratted him out! (They did not find it funny.) They tried to kick them out again But couldn't spot 'em among the others, So kick them out they did instead Along with all their brothers. But the wise ones would not allow this deed; Twas always for fairness they longed! "May a thousand guilty men be freed, Ere an innocent man be wronged." So back they were brought to where it was thought They belonged with their brothers, And so this irony may once be forgot, Along with all the others... |

Are the non-humans all birds? Does it matter what kind of birds? We need to sort out the "thems, theys, hes, brothers, wise ones" Which of the following are correct? He (human?) got them (non-humans?) in to get them (non-humans?) in And happily pocketed the money, They (humans?) smelled a rat and ratted him out! (They (humans?) did not find it funny.) They (humans?) tried to kick them (non-humans?) out again But couldn't spot 'em (non-humans?) among the others (non-humans?) , So kick them (non-humans?) out they (humans?) did instead Along with all their brothers (non-humans?) . But the wise ones (humans?) would not allow this deed; Twas always for fairness they (humans?) longed! "May a thousand guilty men be freed, Ere an innocent man be wronged." So back they (non-humans?) were brought to where it was thought They belonged with their brothers (non-humans?) , And so this irony may once be forgot, Along with all the others... Were the birds going to be killed? If so, for food? Because they were diseased? |

Are the non-humans all birds? Yes Does it matter what kind of birds? Yesish, actually We need to sort out the "thems, theys, hes, brothers, wise ones" Which of the following are correct? This is all very correct. Were the birds going to be killed? No If so, for food? Because they were diseased? |

Are there two seperate groups of the same species of bird? And he brought the two groups together? Are 'they' scientists? Zoo-keepers? Animal caretakers of any kind? Farmers? Is he any of the above? "smelled a rat and ratted him out"--is a particular smell relevant? An actual rat? |
