If she had put it down at any other angle, it wouldn't have been nearly so dramatic. |

Was she at a social gathering? Did she intensionally put it down at that angle? Was the dramatic angle between object and table? object and floor? Object and another person? The angle she obtained in the act of putting it down? Other? Is the location, time frame, specifics of the gathering, her age relevant? |

Was she at a social gathering? no Did she intensionally put it down at that angle? yes, I imagine so. Was the dramatic angle between object and table? object and floor? Object and another person? this The angle she obtained in the act of putting it down? Other? Is the location, time frame, specifics of the gathering, her age relevant? only location. It = mirror? flooring material? picture? none of these Angle = horizontal? vertical? neither of these, as John suggested it is more to do with the angle between the object and another person. |

When she put it down, did it appear as if she were trying to indicate something about another person? Like if the object in some way resembled an arrow, and she unknowingly (or maybe knowingly) laid it down in such a way that it would "point" to someone... |

Could "it" actually have been placed at a different angle? Does the changing amount of drama have anything to do with the "meaning" of "it"? Would it have a different meaning if it were at a different angle? Would it have no meaning? Was "it" tangible? Was it a card of some sort? Does this have anything to do with tarot cards? Does the woman work at the location? Or the person to whom the angle is relevant? By saying that it is close to a restaurant, do you mean that it serves food? Serves beverages? People eat there? People sit around at tables there? Is it a banquet hall? A bar? A coffee shop? The music that would be played there, would it be a recording? Or played by a live musician(s)? "That wasn't beer," or "There was something in your beer?" Was the writing written or readable upside down, or at some other angle than normal? Was it done with script or letters that look the same when read upside down or through a mirror? Script or letters that appear to change when read in those ways? |

"That wasn't beer," or "There was something in your beer?" Neither of these, but the last one is VERY close. Was the writing written or readable upside down, or at some other angle than normal? no Was it done with script or letters that look the same when read upside down or through a mirror? no Script or letters that appear to change when read in those ways? no The dramatic angle I think has pretty much been sussed in one of Noel's posts, you just need to figure out what the writing actually said. |

"This beer was poisoned"? Yes! Well, close enough for a... ***SPOILER*** This is from an episode of 'The Prisoner' (the episode 'the girl who was death'). The main character goes into a bar and asks for his usual. The bartender puts the beer down on the bar. He picks it up and as he drinks it he gradually reveals the words (one by one) on the bottom of the glass: You have just been poisoned And suddenly there is dramatic music etc. My only problem was that if she had put the glass down at any other angle, the message would have appeared sideways or upside down, and it wouldn't have been nearly so dramatic! Thanks for puzzling! |

Ah, I see what you mean by dramatic, now. The slow reveal as he drank the beer was what I was missing. I was picturing something see-through like Bud Light or something. I take it he was drinking something dark? |

Yep, so he couldn't see the words til the level of the drink had dropped below them. |

The task would have therefore been much simpler if the glass DID have a handle. Curse you, television! |
