Two weeks after Olinda got fired, her former co-worker Clark encountered her in the supermarket. He asked her a practical question & realized a moment later that it had a painful & unexpected double meaning. What was it?? |

Does one of the meanings refer to her firing? Does the other meaning refer to... her physical appearance? her heatlth? her psychological state of mind? her social situation? her economic situation? her family situation? |

So his comment is somewhat specific to what she bought (in some way), yet it's irrelevant whether or not she bought food or drink... Did she buy any non-food items? Did his comment have to do with ..."staying home"? ..."keeping busy"? ..."working"? |

Well that's just it, if it doesn't matter whether she bought food or non-food items, I'm not sure where to start with "characteristics" (if you had specific items or types of items in mind, I'd think you'd have said yes to either "food" or "non-food")... Do the items she bought have a theme? If so, did he pick up on it? Was the theme deliberate on her part? Are the items she bought... all the same color? ...all for the same purpose? |

Did the comment have anything to do with money? With the exact number of things she bought? With who she was buying for (just herself vs. several people)? Is it relevant whether she bought multiples of the same item, or different ones? Should we figure out what her job was previous to being fired? Has she taken another relevant job? |
