Does the quick brown fox jump over the lazy dog? Is part of the rule not using the letter X in answers, but otherwise answering alphabetically? Is that all there is to it? Or is there another rule deciding which letter you will start your first answer with? Or only which letter(s) not to start with? |

interesting. I'm just thinking out loud here about what we know so far: 1. I get identical answers from an identical set of questions. 2. Other people each get different answers from an identical set of questions to what I asked. 3. Obviously, as has already been observed, the first letter of answers to subsequent questions follow the alphabet (skipping X) after the first question 4. The first letter of the first answer changes depending on what is asked. So it would seem that the rule has something to do with both the identity of the person who asks and the questions themselves. |

Thanks for humoring me by answering those one more time I promise that I will not ask them again! =) This time I got a different starting letter for the same questions, even though twice previously I got the same answers for that set of questions. So it would appear that date and/or time are relevant. I also think that the missing X is a clue, and that the rule might have something to do with 24 (X is the 24th letter of the alphabet), 3 (3rd letter from the end) or 25 (the number of letters left when you remove the X. But I can't think what right now, so I'm just sharing my thoughts with others. |

Quovynyte: Bologna for breakfast? Could I say sorry for a wrong answer please? C? Don't know, why I said that, but I won't... D? Eat bologna in the next time because I'm vegetarian. E? Finding myself eating it would make me very sad. F? Greetings from germany, that's where I am right now. Carrots for tea-time? Can't imagine that, but might be good for someone. D? D... I don't know what to say about that... E? E... I don't know anything to say as well. F? F... No. Nothing. Not anything to say about it. G? G... Very interesting, but not worth an answer :P... Noel: is the first question all that matters? No. Definitely not. Would it be equally informative if we just asked you one question at a time from now on? Probably yes, but two questions might be informative sometimes ;) Or is it important that we keep asking multiples? No. i don't think so. Quovynyte: Digging graves? Definitely not, and I will not ever do that! E? E is an interesting letter, I really like it. F? F - cool letter isn't it? I think it is... G? G... I think I'm getting better with answering these. H? H... Wow, I can answer these very easy now! It's really getting easier to answer all these questions after my rule^^ |

Ok, I think I might have worked something out on the starting letter... Add up: number of letters in day + number of letters in month + the sum of the digits of the day + the hour(*) Then, subtract from 24 (from the missing X clue) The number you get gives you your starting letters. (A=1, Z=0, Y=-1, etc) * = I think when there's a two-digit hour, you only use the second digit...but I'm not sure. |

Your answers...are they in a pattern? Is it obvious what the pattern is? And number of words is important? OK, so I've got some of this... -The first letter of the answer to the first question of a new post (of questions) alternates between: ---Having x number of letters between the first letter of the first question and the first letter of the answer, where x = number of letters in poster's name. ---Something I haven't figured out yet. And the number of words in your answer = number of letters in poster's name. This good? |

Things I had figured out while this puzzle was stuck in limbo: The time of the post is relevant. Day and hour matter, but I don't think minute does. Obviously there's also a missing X in each alphabet cycle, which means something. Balin, You could be on to something that it just means "subtract X" and we have to figure out what X means. See my post from April 12 and the next few of Ch33tah's posts to see where I was close and where I wasn't. That might help you, but it hasn't helped me yet =) |

hmm..."what do you mean with day"...good question. All I know is that when I posted something twice and said to pretend that the second time was exactly 1 day earlier, I got a different answer. I assumed it had to do with the numeral of the day portion of the date. But I guess I really don't know whether it had to do with the numerical day or the day of the week. Hmmm...how to test this?? Sunny days, chasin' the clouds away? same question, but pretend it was posted exactly 1 day later Sunny days, chasin' the clouds away? same question, but pretend that today is really Saturday (same date, same year) Sunny days, chasin' the clouds away? same question, but pretend that today is a day of the week known as "oday" Sunny days, chasin' the clouds away? same question, but pretend that today is a day of the week known as "Today" Sunny days, chasin' the clouds away? |

Okay, sorry for not answering for such a long time, but I was in Danmark for a few weeks and I just moved to Hamburg, so... Noel: Last set of questions, maybe? Unfortunately, that is possible... pretend that the following question is asked at the exact same time on the exact same date, but on a day called "Today" Last set of questions, maybe? Very nice, this one. pretend that the following question is asked at the exact same time on the exact same date, but on a day called "Toda" Last set of questions, maybe? Very nice, this one. pretend that the following question is asked at the exact same time on the exact same date, but on a day called "Ytoda" Last set of questions, maybe? A really funny day. |

To get the first letter of the answer, start with the first letter of the day of the week of the question and advance it by the number of letters indicated by the hour of the question (skipping X for some reason). for example, my last question was asked on Sunday at 2:31, so the answer starts with the second letter after S, which is U. The number of words is, as we've already established, the number of letters in the questioner's name. I sure hope that's right! =) |

Whew! This was a really tough one. Thank you so much for the hint of "what do you mean by day?" or we would have been here for months to come, I think! And that sounds like an excellent reason to skip X! =) I kept thinking it was a clue to the rest of the rule, though, so I kept trying to do stuff with subtracting the number 24 as part of the rule. |
