lead=giving an example?
lead: related to fishing?
lead: lead atom?

Was he somehow dependent of her?
Did he need a lead? Or was it not necessary for him to follow her lead?
Did she want him to die?
Did she knew the outcome of giving that lead when she gave it?
Did he physically die?

Is it relevant which card game it is?
Is it bridge?
(I don't know how to play bridge!)
Did they use standard rules?
Is the lead that the 1st player plays a suit, and others have to play the same suit?

How far had the game progressed when he died:
End of round
Entire game ended
Game start
Middle of game

Did he die because:
accident
someone killed him

Was the reason he was killed because he lost? Won?
Because the outcome of the game caused him to display certain behavior, which got him killed?

Is betting involved?

Well, Peter pretty much said it, so here is a...
**********************SPOILER********************
A man was killed by his wife over a contract at bridge that he lost. Which led me to wonder, what if the opening lead by the opponents had been different? He might have made the contract and lived!
