Are they just telling him, or trying to convince him? Could what they saw be classed as a UFO? Is what they actually saw relevant?

Relevant:
The time of day? Of year?
Location? Indoors? Outdoors? Terrain?
Identity of those who saw the angels? What jobs they held? Whether they were the priest's parishioners?
Which religion we're talking about? Is the priest a Roman Catholic priest? Or could a rabbi or pastor fill in?

Did they see something in the sky? Are they shepherds watching their flocks by day? Other folks working in the fields? Harvesting? Weeding? Planting?

Weather: Clear? Cloudy? Rainy? Stormy? Snowy? Hot, warm, cold, cool? Hailing?

Did they see something tangible? Alive? Was it far away? Close up? Did they misinterpret the distance?

Did they see something in the sky? Birds? Insects? Bats? A flock of something? Did hot air currents magnify or otherwise affect what they saw? Was what they saw aware of being seen?

If the farmers had binoculars, could they easily have resolved the discrepancy on their own? What about a camera?

Did they think they were seeing the "good", Christian sort of angel? The evil, avenging kind? The Second Coming? Did they interpret what they saw in a religious manner? Is that why they went to the priest, or was he simply the nearest authority?

LTPF list of years and countries?

Is this a true story?

So what they saw was relatively close to the horizon? Is that relevant?

Is it a unique phenomenon that they saw? Were they the only ones to see it? Could it have occurred in another country? Another time? Could it have been taken for something else (ie, non-angelic) by a non-Christian? For example, might a Native American have thought it was an eagle?

OK. There are several objects, each of which has basically two parts. For one of them, it's (from the highest volume down):

Oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sulfur, chlorine, sodium, magnesium, iron, cobalt, copper, zinc, iodine, selenium, fluorine.

The other part consists of aminoacids - glycine, alanine, serine.

Yes(I'm a skydiver, but we use colorful nylon canopies and are probably not mistaken for angels;-) This is because there (probably) is a substantial difference between you and the skydivers from our puzzle, for you yet to find out ;-)) I have never tried skydiving, and I thought all parachutes were white and made of silk :-)). However, although the puzzle would work somehow better with white parachutes, it would work with parachutes of any colour :-))

Is the color of the clothing relevant? If so: white? Sky blue? Camouflage green? Black? Red? Something else?
Angel costumes? ;-)
Did the farmers think that the skydivers themselves were the angels? Or did they perceive the whole thing: person, lines, canopy and all as an angel?
Relevant if the skydivers got their canopies draped over themselves when they landed (very annoying when it happens)? Did the farmers see the landing? Relevant?

Did their clothing have several colors? No colors? Was the clothing obscured? Did they jump naked?

****************SPOILER*******************

A scorching summer day. A group of young skydivers climb into the plane; they are suffocating from the heat, and one of them gets the idea: let's jump naked. His mates think that this would be a great fun; they undress, take their parachutes and jump.

In a nearby field, a group of elderly women farmers are harvesting onions. They look up to the sky... and see young curly boys floating in the air in their birthday suits, with something white above them.

Confused and scared, they run to their local priest to report they saw angels falling from the sky.

Thank you all for participating, and especially to Galfisk for finishing up the puzzle!

Great puzzle and story! Do you know where and when this supposedly happened?

Last summer, a guy at my skydiving club jumped in a bikini on a dare. Unfortunately he had to walk past a hot-rod meet ("raggarträff") to get back to the airfield afterwards, but he took it all in good spirit.

Great puzzle and story! Thanks, I am glad you liked it! Do you know where and when this supposedly happened? Rumor has it that it happened near this airport http://airportlucenec.lcdc.sk/ in the seventies or eighties. However, I did not find any mention of it on their pages.

However, it appears it can happen even in Sweden: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCBxhcWaFGI , although this one http://www.thelocal.se/3794/20060512/ , proved to be a hoax :-))

It appears that you skydiving guys have a great sense of humour! :-))

70s - 80s sounds right as far as round canopies go. I must admit I find the idea of jumping naked intriguing ;-)
Oh, and a great sense of humor is obligatory.
I'll post more in the chat thread, it's better suited for this:-)
