Was They the people he was loyal to? Or the people who rewarded him? Were the people he was loyal to also ones which rewarded him? Was he even rewarded by someone? Was the reward only some kind of mental satisfaction? Was it something physical? something valuable? Multiple computer games are involved... so, is He working in video game industry? Is he only player of computer games? Is he pro-gamer? Are They playing the same games? Are they working in game industry? Are those games of specific genre? Are they made by the same developer? Is it relevant? Do we need to specify those games? |

Yes Do we need to specify those games? You don't need to, per se, but if you could identify them, it would be a good help. It's possible to get all the information without identifying the specific games, and once that happens, I'll $poyle it. Was he personally loyal, or was his character in a game/games loyal? He was personally loyal. |

I was also thinking about Sam & Max series, but as far as I know the episodic games started in 2006 and games before that were actually maid by LucasArts, so it's not it, is it? Ok, enough guessing, let's find out more about the reward. Was it a thing? Something you can touch? Pick up? Is it smaller than a match, a pencil, a book, a microwave, an oven, a refrigerator? Bigger? Did he get it together with the game? Did he get it by mail? By courier service? Were they supposed to know who gets rewarded? Was he rewarded by mistake? Did they intended to reward people loyal to their game series? |

The reward will be given in a future game (inside the game itself). He does not work for the company, and he is not a beta tester. And a hint: Others also got this same reward. |

(I realize that if I had read the thread of previous questions, I would have known this. Oh well!) No problem, don't worry about it. Is it a point-and-click adventure? I'm not sure if it would be placed in that genre, but it's an adventure, and you do point-and-click. Sorry for the confusion. Is it made exclusively for the PC? Yes, mostly... or were console or handheld versions added to the mix? One game in the series has been released for GBA (as well as PC), one also for DVD, and one also for Wii. The newest game (and future games) will be released for PC and Mac. Other than that, all PC. Tomb Raider? No |

"You definitely have a knack for solving my puzzles." I guess I'm just persistent =) You definitely are! And that's definitely a good thing. So he submitted a "yearbook-styled" drawing that will be included in the next game as "fan artwork"? Actually, this contest was to submit an actual yearbook photo of oneself. 10 winners were selected, and those 10 photos will appear in a future game. This guy was one of the winnners, and this is the reward. Now what does he do? |

Ok, now that I'm fully tracking... So they didn't know he was loyal when they selected his entry? Does he review the games? Create walkthroughs? |

Ok, now that I'm fully tracking... So they didn't know he was loyal when they selected his entry? Not likely Does he review the games? No Create walkthroughs? Yes! Video walkthroughs, to be precise. I can finally declare this a **********SPOILER********** "He" is Michael Gray, better known as "arglefumph," especially to YouTubers who watch his hilarious video walkthroughs for the Nancy Drew series. (Shameless plug: watch one, and laugh for a few hours straight. The sixth part of "Message in a Haunted Mansion" contains his most hilarious moment.) He has been creating these walkthroughs for 2 years, and has a blog in which he discusses...well, Nancy Drew stuff, and other things. In early April, he entered Her Interactive's yearbook photo contest, described above, and won; thus, his photo will appear in a future Nancy Drew game. He probably would not have entered this contest had he not been so loyal to the series for so long, and it is not likely that Her Interactive employees knew how much the "Michael G." who won the contest had done to bring attention to the series. After all, his walkthroughs got me hooked. This took a really long time, and nice work to It_so_happened again for solving this mystery. |
