No to all. Perhaps I should have answered the question above: "Does it involve some sort of optical illusion?" with noish rather than yesish. In this puzzle optics is not more relevant than in every day life. But the phenomenon is visible.

Somewhere in Germany there is a particular pedestal. It is to be used in the following way: you get on it and stay there for a while (you may be watched by others) with the intention to boosts your self-esteem. The latter works only because of some characteristic of the pedestal left to be found out.

Is the pedestal the kind that normally holds an honored statue of a famous person? But they've left it open? And somehow by standing on the pedestal you're supposed to feel like an honored person? yes to all

Was it intentionally left open? Or was it just never completed?

Was it a statement about the value of ordinary people? Is it in what was East Germany? Was the pedestal part of the communist message?

Is the pedestal labelled? If so, does it give a name? A description of a person?

Is the writing on the pedestal related to Germany in any way? Or would it work in other countries as well? Maybe "a fighter"?

----------------SPOILER----------------
"Me"? yes
The exact German word is "ICH" which is "I" or "Me" in English.

Photo of the pedestral
It was created by an artist named Hans Traxler. The concept is that every human is unique. So everyone who likes can stand on the pedestal and get for taking photos.
Thanks to all for playing!
