A man uses a book and kills a rare bug. He is immediately arrested and eventually sentenced to 20 years to life in prison. Why? |

Man = HAM? Did he hit the bug with the book? Specific book relevant? Did he steal the book? Is anyone else involved? |

Was it a Bible? And in the future, could you please put your text in bold? Like this: \ b { text here } only without the spaces, so it looks like this |

Was it a rare book? Famous? Hardcover? Bold helps distinguish the puzzle maker's text (answers) from the solvers' questions. Read the user guide (at the top of the Active Puzzles page) for more info, and if you have questions, ask them in the chatroom. We'll all be glad to help. |

An LTPF list is just what someone writes instead of writing everything in that list. So, for example, instead of writing every possible crime (murder, embezzeling, burglary, jaywalking, etc.), I just put [LTPF list of crimes] and it covers every one. One more thing: When you think a puzzle's been solved, make sure to post the full answer with the word "$poiler" (with an S). This helps moderators identify which puzzles can be moved to the solved section. |

When he was arrested he had a copy of A Catcher in the Rye and said he was the main character Holden Caulfield. That was the first time I have ever made one up. It was the day after I joined the site and someone laughed at my apparently very old midget sawdust puzzle and suggested I make one up. Thanks for the encouragement. |
