HINT: The danger itself doesn't cause the comfort. Instead, the danger can come along with something that leads to the comfort. |

Does the danger lead to relief or surprise of some sort, though eliciting humour? For example, one may feel exhilarated after riding a roller coaster. |

Is it a feeling of calm? No Love? No Joy? No Pleasure? Noish Relaxation? Noish Happiness? No Does the danger lead to relief Yesish or surprise No of some sort, though eliciting humour? No For example, one may feel exhilarated after riding a roller coaster. HINT: The danger actually is a situation that isn't dangerous in itself but can become dangerous given the right circumstances. You may want to find out what that situation is because that's more important for the puzzle than the possible consequences. Figuring out the shortcoming is important, too. If you figure that out, the rest should be easy (I think). |

Toilet breaks? No Water poisoning? No Something else to do with how the body copes (or doesn't) with heat? Air moisture levels relevant? No It's feeling unwell because of the heat in general which makes you wish for some cooling and which leads to the action that you perform to get some which in turn can lead to the danger. The specification of the unwell feeling isn't relevant, so I just answered those that can have clearly nothing to do with the puzzle. |

So: 1. The shortcoming is a lack of AC at work places? Work places in general? One specific workplace? One specific type fo workplace? 2. The shortcoming leads to windows being opened when it is hot. This leads to comfort. 3. Open windows can lead to things being blown in from the outside (leaf, rain, dust, trash), stuff inside (papers, paper money, secrets) blowing out the window, and being blown around inside, becoming lost/destroyed/falling into the wrong hands. Correct? Is there more to it? |

So: 1. The shortcoming is a lack of AC at work places? Work places in general? One specific workplace? One specific type fo workplace? Actually, my own workplace, but as it can refer to most indoor workplaces, let's say work places in general 2. The shortcoming leads to windows being opened when it is hot. This leads to comfort. Yes 3. Open windows can lead to things being blown in from the outside (leaf, rain, dust, trash), stuff inside (papers, paper money, secrets) blowing out the window, and being blown around inside, becoming lost/destroyed/falling into the wrong hands. Yes, and additionally, people breaking in and stealing things and/or threatening persons who are inside, but that's not important for the puzzle. The point was that an open window can become dangerous in general. Correct? Is there more to it? That's it for the most part, but I'd like to have a detail on how long/ under what circumstances the window is left open before I $poil... |

Do people forget to close the windows before going home? This Or leaving the room? And now it's time for a... ***************** SPOILER ***************** I work in a building that has the shortcoming that none of the offices are air-conditioned in any way. So, unless you bring your own fan, the only way to get permanent cooling is leaving the window wide open. However, this doesn't always help much. On particularly hot days, you won't feel a significant fall of temperature, let alone a breeze, so you'll quickly forget about the window being open. If you're unlucky, you might even forget about it while you're leaving after doing your days's work so that it stays open overnight. Now, an open window is one thing, an unattended open window is another. As already mentioned, there's the danger of burglers climbing in and stealing things and/or threatening co-workers who are still around, or of a heavy wind blowing papers around, or of rain damaging things near the window etc. and you yourself might get in trouble if some co-worker (or whoever) finds out that you've created such a security gap. But assuming that none of this happens, you'll have the comfort of a nice and cool room on your next workday due to the cooler air coming in overnight. These were the thoughts my OCD-ish mind was producing a few minutes after I had left my office the other day because I wasn't sure if I had really closed my window (I had). |
