Was the danger from the consequences of the law itself (ie "If you break the law, you'll be arrested/beaten/shot"), or was the law changed to keep people out of danger?

Was it prohibited for cars to be driven? On a specific terrain? On dirt roads? Paved roads? Grass? No to all, FA. Was the law intended to protect people? In a sense; you would be in very serious danger if you violated it. Or just to be restrictive? The lawbreakers regarded it this way.

Does the rule require: yielding? for certain vehicles? Vehicles from a certain direction? Does it require driving on a certain part of the road? Or leaving a certain part free? Passing relevant? Turn signals? Traffic lights?

After Argentina invaded the British-owned Falkland Islands in 1982, they required drivers to drive on the right (as in Argentina) instead of on the left (as in British territories). As a sign of patriotism and stubbornness, many Falkland Islanders ignored this regulation and continued to drive on the left, despite the risks of head-on collision and arrest.
