So...

You both saw the plane, which made him less confident and you more confident. This correct?

Were you going to the plane? Were you going skydiving? About to go? Was the plane operable? Was a part of the plane missing? If so, had it been removed for repairs? Was the plane being repaired? Is the plane your jump plane?

Do the tail mounts hold something in place? The engine mounts? They will hold the tail and engine, respectively. Or do they move around? No. Do parts of the mounts move, while others don't? The mounts don't move. There are some control wires and electrical wires, but they are not relevant to the puzzle.

Did the mounts appear fragile/not sturdy at first glance? But you knew that's how they were supposed to look? Yes!
****SPOILER****
The structure of the airplane is mostly aluminium plate, riveted together. The engine and tail mounts look quite flimsy, and unlike a car the body itself bears the load. He felt less safe flying the plane after seeing how it was put together, but I found it to be an elegant and well engineered design with focus on light weight.

Nice one!

Seeing as you've been away for a few days, I'm assuming (and hoping) you finally got your 200th skydive in...if so, congratulations! If not, I hope you can get it done soon!

Thanks!
I did my 200th skydive a week ago, during my vacation I've visited three drop zones and done more than 30 skydives. The most memorable one was a sunset load, where the land below was in dusk and the sun was redder than anything I've ever seen before. There was even rainbow before we took off, and I opened the parachute high and just hung there watching the sunset. I braked the parachute until I was almost motionless in the air, just sinking gently downwards, and watched the other skydivers and the plane land down below.
It was magical.
