He cursed them, and they could not break free. This pleased him.

He = him = HAM
They = them = HAM = 2 people

In order to prevent an early spoiler: Is it from a work of literary fiction? Fiction, yes. Literary, no.

And, of course, e-mail potential early $poylers.

is this from a movie? play? FYOI? news story? None of these

curse=swear? hex? This-ish
relevant what curse? Yes, slight DOYD of "curse"

were they trapped? Yope
could they not break free as a direct result of him cursing them? No
were they immobile as a result of being trapped? Yes, taking into account the "Yope"-ish way they were "trapped".

was he pleased because they could not break free? Yes, but for other reasons too.

gotta go to class now, I'll ask more later All right - see you later!

But they were in this "predicament" before he cursed them, right?

The two men, are they also work of fiction?

You said not literature, so not from a book, right? A serial in a magazine? news paper? comic book?

Is this work of fiction something that is written down? Told to others orally? or by pictures? drawings?

were they paralyzed?
confined to a certain place? such as a room? house? city?

could they have left if they had wanted to?
if they tried to move or get away would they have been hurt? killed?

Did the curse cause anything to happen to them? (since they were already "trapped" before)

Break free...of something physical? if so, and object? (ie. rope) a place?
something mental? (ie a way of thinking, an emotion, etc)

were they related to him? were they related to eachother? were any of them a couple?

Is this a famous work of fiction? It's well-known in certain parts of the world, but less so in others. Do we have to find out what it is? It would be helpful to do so, but I suppose this could be solved without that knowledge.

Is this work of fiction something that is written down? Told to others orally? or by pictures? drawings? See below

Forgot two things (getting too tired here, lol)

Games relevant? Songs/music? Neither - I'll just say it; this comes from a TV show.

were they paralyzed? No
confined to a certain place? Yes, DOYD of "place," see below such as a room? house? city?

could they have left if they had wanted to? No
if they tried to move or get away would they have been hurt? killed? Neither

Did the curse cause anything to happen to them? (since they were already "trapped" before) Noish

Break free...of something physical? This... if so, and object? (ie. rope) Yes, it is rope... a place?
something mental? (ie a way of thinking, an emotion, etc) ...and also this-ish. See below.

were they related to him? were they related to eachother? were any of them a couple? No to all

RECAP and HINTS: Person #1 cursed Persons #2 and #3, who could not break free of the curse because they were tied up with rope. This pleased Person #1. This comes from a TV show that is well-known in certain parts of the world, but less well-known in others. None of those involved are related, though Persons #2 and #3 have something in common.

Did they tie themselves up? some other person? This if so is that person relevant? Yope - the person who tied them up is a policeman. He's otherwise irrelevant.

By the way, the situation is extremely silly.

Well, just had a hunch, British TV-series with a scheming character like that - could only be one, lol. Didn't know you had access to them in the US though. They're definitely worth watching, and the same goes for much of British sitcom - Only Fools and Horses, Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em, Vicar of Dibley, Father Ted, Absolutely Fabulous,just to name a few

did person 1 commit a crime? did the police officer think that the two people had commited a crime?
had they done something wrong that wouldn't exactly be considered criminal?

RECAP: Person 1 cursed Persons 2 and 3 while they were tied up with rope. Being tied up, they could neither break free from the rope nor the curse, and this pleased #1. They were tied up because a policeman believed they were conspiring to commit murder, as was reported to him by #1; however, #1 knew they were innocent. This scenario comes from a British TV show.

HINTS: -The profession of #2 and #3 is relevant (they have the same profession).
-This is a really silly scenario.
-The curse is related to the shared profession.

I'm sure most of our British (and other European) LTPFers will know this one, so if you do, please do not $poyle. And could someone please give the characters names? (All are HAM, recall.)

OK, I've got some better ones, and Eli got this a while ago, so

**********SPOILER**********

This is from an episode of Blackadder titled "Sense and Senility." Short synopsis (because the episode is too funny for me to give the whole plot):

Blackadder is the butler for the Prince Regent. Two actors are trying to assist the Prince Regent in giving a speech (and failing miserably), but Blackadder has a scorn for actors ("I thought they just got drunk, put on silly hats, and trusted to luck"), and soon discovers that saying "Macbeth" causes the actors to perform a silly and painful ritual to "break the curse," which gets more painful each time.

Eventually, Blackadder gets the actors arrested for conspiracy to commit murder by claiming that the new play they were rehearsing was a conspiracy to kill the Prince Regent, cleverly disguised as play manuscript. Before they are led off, Blackadder says, "I only have one thing to say to you...Macbeth!" and the actors cannot break free of the curse because they have been tied up by the guards.

Kudos to La_sparky, who asked some good questions, and to Eli, who figured out the answer pretty quickly.
