Staffordshire oatcakes are sort of like a cross between a pancake and a tortilla I guess. Oh, and made of oats, of course. They're really good, and they're good for wrapping other food in and eating it. I had them with my cousins when I was in England last year. | ||

Then the host has to find the first occasion that the string of digits is found in the decimal places of pi. The position then determines the lengths of the words in the response. For example, 999999 starts at 762 in the decimal places of pi, so Gregoryuconn's Monkeyman(x6) receives a 3 word response of word lengths 7,6,2. No wonder you had to invent the de facto CA! | ||

Exactly right... **********SPOILER********** ...but do recall, this puzzle was the product of Gregoryuconn's cleverness. Docd's explanation above is exactly right; this website was used to find the number strings in pi (it goes up to 200 million decimal places [!]). And just to touch up the last points, if a certain number string was not found in the first 200 million digits of pi, it received a de facto CA, as theoretically that string should be somewhere in pi. A true CA occurred if a question had no letters in it, and thus had no number string. Nice job to everyone who worked on this one, and bonus bonus points to Docd for the thorough solve, and to Gregoryuconn for the very clever idea. |
