While idly marisiing, as one does at this time of year, I exclaimed: 'What a twerp'! Why so? |

M? presumably a human adult, gender irrelevant Longshot this but is the town of Antwerp relevant? YES! Very much so. It's nice when a longshot hits the target. |

The weather forecast is related to the weather in Anvers as compared to weather in some other location(s), correct? If so: is it relevant in what language you read or listened to the forecast? Is it relevant how the weather is there anyway? The comparison is done with one other location or with multiple ones? Is it relevant in what country the related location(s) is (are)? Did the forecast said something that might be perceived as highly unlikey, bordering stupidity (in Anvers this December will be twice as hot as in Casablanca)? |

Is it relevant how the weather is there anyway? not in the slightest: vgq The comparison is done with one other location or with multiple ones? one other, I guess, but it's hard to answer, as you'll see Is it relevant in what country the related location(s) is (are)? yes Did the forecast said something that might be perceived as highly unlikey, bordering stupidity (in Anvers this December will be twice as hot as in Casablanca)? not this kind of thing, which would indeed be rather odd |

The capital city? Brussels? No. They are all too busy getting the sprouts ready for Christmas. Were the forecasters Belgian? Are the two forecasts being given by the same forecaster? The same website? Are they being given at the same time? And yet they predict totally different weather? |

Is one forecast for Anvers the city proper and one for the region Anvers is situated in, yet the forecasts are blatantly different? Or maybe for one very close town or village? Were both forecasts for the same time of day? Maybe one of them shows warm nights and cold days, while one would normally expect the reverse to be true? |

Are the two forecasts being given by the same forecaster? The same website? yes Are they being given at the same time? yes And yet they predict totally different weather? yes, or least a significant discrepancy Is one forecast for Anvers the city proper and one for the region Anvers is situated in, yet the forecasts are blatantly different? this may well be one explanation, but it certainly isn't how it seemed Or maybe for one very close town or village? not this Were both forecasts for the same time of day? yes Maybe one of them shows warm nights and cold days, while one would normally expect the reverse to be true? nothing like this ... and you're all very, very close to the answer! |

Is one of them for the town? And the other is not? Did it seem like there were two contradictory forecasts for a certain place/time? |

...than Antwerp? Than Anvers? YES! Indeed. The city is apparently going to be colder than itself. Or at least, good enough for: **** SPOILER **** Belgium's second city has at least three names: Antwerp (if you're British), Antwerpen (if you speak Dutch/Flemish) and Anvers (if you speak French). I'm planning to go there at the end of the week, so I checked the BBC weather forecast for Antwerp, and it turns out that it is going to be three degrees colder than in Antwerpen. Which struck me as, well, just a little bit silly. And Walloons obviously don't visit the BBC website, because Anvers wasn't recognised at all :-) Of course, I may have misunderstood the whole thing, in which case the twerpitude is on me. Well done Balin. Treat yourself to another slice of cake/gateau/koeken.

Haha, another great one woodworm! I just realized that I was using Anvers all the time, while you were using Antwerp, but never thought of that... Have a pleasant stay there and try only beer or bier, as biere will get you nothing :-) |
