He = someone related to you? No (as I know you're female) H/A/M? Now this... H/T/M? ...but when he made the mistake, this H/C/M? True story? This FYOI? FSEI? LTPF lists of centuries, decades, countries, and continents, if permissible. When he made the mistake: USA in the early nineties |

By making the mistake, did he discover/invent something that he became rich from? By selling it commercially? (I remember reading a book about great inventions that were discovered by accident) Or did it lead to an idea that he became rich from? On the internet? |

By making the mistake, did he discover/invent something that he became rich from? No, not directly by making the mistake; see below. By selling it commercially? (I remember reading a book about great inventions that were discovered by accident) Thus no Or did it lead to an idea that he became rich from? Noish On the internet? No did he invent something? Some time after making the mistake, he created something. I wouldn't call it "invent", though. set up a business? He did that at some point, but that's not what made him rich in the first place. the mistake he made - a misunderstanding? a physical accident or fumble? confusing one thing with another? one person with another? getting a measurement wrong? No to all Did he become instantly rich after the mistake? No or did it take some time? Yes if so, relevanot how long it took? Not really, assume a couple of years. |

Are any other people involved? Yes! If so, [LTPF list of integers]? Several people are more or less relevant for the time between the mistake and the creation of the "thing", but only one, later two, persons are directly involved in the "thing". H? A? M? At the time of the mistake and the creation of "it", the two relevant persons were H/T/M, too. |

Is the relevance of the mistake that he learned something from it? or did it change the course of his life in some observable way (like getting him fired from a job or causing him to move to another country)? |

Was he punished for misbehaving? Did he have to do any works at school as a punishment, for example paint classrooms? And that made him realise that he's got artistic talent? Is he famous now? |

was he expelled? Yes was the next school an ordinary school or a specialist establishment? Normal school, AFAIK like drama school? performing arts? music school? creative writing? So, no, or at least irr to those was the relevant change to do with the people he met at the new school? Yes! eg the HTM? And yes again (more precisely, he met the other HTM through some of his new schoolmates, though :-)) or the teaching? did the new school allow him the opportunity to get a decent eductaion which he wouldn't have done? or the new school encouraged him to use a particular talent? Not to my knowledge, so assume no/irr for all these questions. the arts - music? This writing? drama? design? painting? Was he punished for misbehaving? AFAIK, he was just expelled. Did he have to do any works at school as a punishment, for example paint classrooms? And that made him realise that he's got artistic talent? So assume no/irr for these. Is he famous now? I'd say he is, although I'm certain that most people rather know the, um, "thing" than him himself. |

BLOOPER: Just looked it up, back then, the first guy he met was already 20. So, DOYD of "teen", he might already be an HAM (in Germany, you're of age at 18, after all ^^)... The guy he met later on, still is an HTM, though. |

was the thing he created a particular piece of music? a song? a symphony? was it a new musical instrument? or a technique? or a style? No to all of those, and I admit that "thing" might be misleading here. Also, the three persons actually created it together. Due to the nature of "it", he couldn't have done it alone. Did he design something? Something art-related? Well, if album covers, clothes and the likes count, then I guess he has. But just think of him as a musician. |

wa the "thing" a band? Yes, indeed, and quite a successful band as well ^^ like Emerson, Lake and Palmer? But not that ************* SPOILER ************* In 1992, Tom DeLonge was expelled from high school for attending a school basketball game drunk, forcing him to change schools. Through some of new schoolmates, he got to know Mark Hoppus and (together with Scott Raynor, another kid from Tom's new school, who was later replaced by Travis Barker) they founded the band blink-182. If Tom hadn't been expelled, they'd most likely never have met, the band wouldn't have existed and Tom (and the others) might not have become rich. |
