Due to a desire to keep my feet dry, I ended up sleeping in a large puddle. My feet also got wet. What happened? |

I = you, Galfisk? Did this happen once? More than once? Were you sleeping outdoors? In a tent? In a sleeping bag? Indoors? In a bed? In an unusual place? A puddle of water? Was this puddle caused by rain? By a broken tap/water pipe? By a leaking roof? By water spilling from a container? |

I = you, Galfisk? Yes. Did this happen once? this. More than once? Were you sleeping outdoors? Yope. In a tent? this is closest, but not that close. In a sleeping bag? Indoors? In a bed? Yes. In an unusual place? No. A puddle of water? Yes. Was this puddle caused by rain? Partly. By a broken tap/water pipe? By a leaking roof? By water spilling from a container? No to the rest. |

The "somewhere else" where you could have slept, is it a tent? a hotel? a hostel? a cave? a private house? If you had slept in "somewhere else", would your feet have got wet? If so, would it have been due to the rain? broken pipe? leaking roof? |

Was it a regular bed? A bunk bed? A fold-away bed? A makeshift bed? Did the bed fall apart? If it didn't, did the water soak into the mattress? Did you fall out of the bed? Was the water on the floor/ground only? |

You forgot to answer Doriana's question about sleeping in a caravan ;-) Does "somewhere else" simply mean that you could've slept in some other place within the caravan, or wherever you were? |

Did the water come from outside the caravan? Was it weather related? Did it come from inside? Was it due to a plumbing leak? Condensation? I guess I should ask first, was the puddle actually made of water? Or was it some other liquid? |

Did the caravan even have a roof? Or all four walls? Or a floor? Is the location of the caravan relevant? Was it near the other place where you could've slept? Were they both on the same estate? Is something about the ground relevant? Was the ground unstable and the caravan sunk in somewhat? You implied that theoretically, your feet could've gotten wet in the other place, too. Does that mean that the same thing that happened in the caravan could've happened in the house as well? Or do you just mean that you can't generally rule out that your feet get wet there? Is a flood involved? Is the reason why you chose sleeping in the caravan over sleeping in the building relevant? |

Did the caravan even have a roof? Or all four walls? Or a floor? Yes, it's intact. Is the location of the caravan relevant? Yes. Was it near the other place where you could've slept? Yes. Were they both on the same estate? Yes. Is something about the ground relevant? Yes. Was the ground unstable and the caravan sunk in somewhat? No. You implied that theoretically, your feet could've gotten wet in the other place, too. Yes. Does that mean that the same thing that happened in the caravan could've happened in the house as well? No. I smell the FA again. Or do you just mean that you can't generally rule out that your feet get wet there? The same thing that got my feet wet could've happened if I'd slept inside, but then at least I would've been able to avoid it. Is a flood involved? For SVV of "flood". Is the reason why you chose sleeping in the caravan over sleeping in the building relevant? It may give you a clue to get rid of the FA. |

So since the puddle was outside the caravan, by "sleeping in a puddle" do you mean sleeping within the caravan, that itself was in the puddle? So let's get the order of events straight: 1) You decided to sleep in a caravan, rather than inside of a nearby building. At this time there was neither a puddle of water nor any other liquid on the ground around the caravan. 2) You slept. 3) You woke up and stepped outside the caravan. A puddle had formed around the caravan, but you did not step into it. 4) You stepped into some other liquid that contained water, but was not actually water. Was there any causal connection between the puddle of water forming and the other liquid appearing? |

So after sleeping in the caravan, you went outside? To go to the building? And you stepped into snow? That made your feet wet? And the snow hadn't been there when you decided to sleep in the caravan? Or even if there had been some, it hadn't been that much? And if you had known that there would be so much snow, you would've slept in the building? So that you wouldn't have to go outside? Or was there something that could've helped you to not step into the snow in the first place? Maybe a flashlight? Was it still dark when you stepped into the snow? And you simply didn't see it? Did you leave the caravan door open when you went outside? No. You appear to be making an FA. |

Did you walk outside for a long time? Or just step outside, then return? I walked from the caravan to the building, about 20 meters. |

RECAP: Due to a desire to keep my feet dry, I slept in a caravan sitting in a large puddle, caused by rain and melting snow. I chose to sleep in the caravan because I like it there. The puddle was not there when I went to sleep. The next morning I went outside, and had to step through deep snow that got into my boots, making my feet wet. This was not anticipated, or I would've slept in an adjacent building, where I probably wouldn't have had to step through deep snow the next morning. The snow was there when I decided to sleep in the caravan, in fact it was even more of it then. |

Just to clarify: Were you actually sleeping in the puddle? Or was the caravan? Is the weather forecast for the next day relevant? |

Just to clarify: Were you actually sleeping in the puddle? Or was the caravan? I was sleeping in the caravan, which sat in the puddle. I did not sleep directly in the puddle. Is the weather forecast for the next day relevant? No. |

Did you have to go through the snow because of the puddle? Like, in the area where the puddle formed, there wasn't much snow and you would have been able to cross without getting snow in your boots? But because you wished to avoid the puddle, you had to take a route through deeper snow? |

Did you have to go through the snow because of the puddle? Yesish. Like, in the area where the puddle formed, there wasn't much snow and you would have been able to cross without getting snow in your boots? Correct - but there's more to it. But because you wished to avoid the puddle, you had to take a route through deeper snow? Yes. |

Did you have a reason to think the snow was not likely to last long before melting? or did you not anticipate having to get up as early as you did? |

I'm a little lost...In the recapt you stated "The puddle was not there when I went to sleep". Based on that answer it would seem the answer to "HINT: How did I get to the caravan, without getting my feet wet?" would be - You walked there when there was no puddle, and thus no possibility of getting your feet wet? Was there some OTHER reason your feet would have gotten wet? Have we determined that? And now we are deducing how you avoid that circumstance? |

Based on that answer it would seem the answer to "HINT: How did I get to the caravan, without getting my feet wet?" would be - You walked there when there was no puddle, and thus no possibility of getting your feet wet? Incorrect. My feet got wet from stepping through deep snow. See below. Was there some OTHER reason your feet would have gotten wet? Have we determined that? See above. And now we are deducing how you avoid that circumstance? Yes. You need to know how I got to the camper without having to walk through deep snow. HINT: If I had slept inside, or walked through the deep snow, the puddle would have been smaller or nonexistent. Was there ICE you could walk on? But then it melted? No. |

Balin, I think you've got it with the did you walk to the camper Q. Were you inside the camper when it was moved to that spot? Did heat from the motor melt the snow? Chemical reaction from something that dripped out of the camper? |

Did you walk to the camper? Yes. Did you create the puddle when going to the camper? Yope - explore. Were you inside the camper when it was moved to that spot? No, it was sitting in the same spot the entire time. Did heat from the motor melt the snow? No. Chemical reaction from something that dripped out of the camper? No. The snow melted from rain and above-freezing temperatures. did you slam the door and a load of snow fell in front of the door? No. |

Did you move something, like a tent, that would have otherwise protected that spot from the rain? or did the rain run off of something, e.g. a part of the camper, which caused it to pool there? |

Shovel it? Exactly. Recap: Due to a desire to keep snow from entering my boots, I shoveled a path to my camper. this led to the camper sitting in a large puddle, formed from rain and melting snow. Had I not shoveled away the snow, the puddle would've been much smaller or nonexistent. The next morning Ihad to step through the deep snow and got it in my boots after all. All that's remaining to find out is how shoveling the path caused the large puddle to form, and why I couldn't use the path in the morning. |

Did the path serve as a drainage ditch for the rain and melting water? channeling it towards the camper? |

Did the path serve as a drainage ditch for the rain and melting water? channeling it towards the camper? You got it! All the water from the road drained through my path and collected underneath the camper. I had to choose between stepping through deep water and deep snow, and chose the snow because the water would've been even worse. **SPOILER** |
