A rulebreaker? maybe a neologism? Yes a neologistical rulebreaker? this, but like they say in the TV ads, "THERE'S MORE" but the question for you becomes, what is the more? And for now, I will also say duck fleas. And I am going to bed now, so no more answers until morning. |

you don't need to be so testy about it, mr. coke =( just wanted to know what you'd say. And my puzzle is close to being solved, I think, if you want to help out, Greg... Does it matter *who* asks the questions? *When* the questions are asked? *experiments* Is something about the actual neologistic word relevant? A camouflaged puzzle? A puzzle statement? |

Does it matter *who* asks the questions? *When* the questions are asked? *experiments* Is something about the actual neologistic word relevant? A camouflaged puzzle? A puzzle statement? These would be difficult to answer until you determine something else about a blarfingar. Think REALLY OBVIOUS. Once you manage that, I will answer this. |

You give bizzare answers everytime someone mentions computers or computer-related technology... It is a rulebreaker where the rule has to do with referencing the the puzzle itself and the fact it's posted on an online forum, in fact THIS forum? |

Is it a camouflaged rulebreaker? Yes, but "it" is not specific. And as my 9th grade English teacher Mrs. Whalen said "Specific is Terrific". Which is all I remember from her class becuase she didn't really teach us anything, she just said "You're honors students, you can teach yourselves" and then when we didn't learn the material and failed the tests she said "Why didn't you study? We went over this in class". |

So a "blarfingar" is something not specific? Seems like that's going to make it a little hard to guess.... Is it a rulebreaker where you respond to correct guesses with nonsense? |

So a "blarfingar" is something not specific? No, I said your usage of the word "it" was not specific enough. Be more specific, like Mrs. Whalen said. And now I will sing a song "Blah blu blee bla bloo blee I don't know what I'm singing but the Yankees are winning 5-3 OMG it's a frog and I'm done" But be grateful that I made a partial exception for you. Seems like that's going to make it a little hard to guess.... See above see above or i'll turn you into a ferret baluga whale Is it a rulebreaker where you respond to correct guesses with nonsense? Think other way, young grassferret |

A "blarfingar" is a kind of lateral puzzle? By reading the puzzle statement we were "looking right at" a "blarfingar"? Does the rule have to do with using the word "blarfingar" in our questions? |

And I officially give up on this one. Not a huge fan of Rulebreakers and if there is a logic to your nonsense replies (or a sense to the replies themselves), I'm not seeing it. Sorry... |

And I officially give up on this one. Not a huge fan of Rulebreakers and if there is a logic to your nonsense replies (or a sense to the replies themselves), I'm not seeing it. Sorry... Well, who said there was a logic to my nonsense replies? See below Is this puzzle a camouflaged rulebreaker? Is a blarfingar a camo-breaker? You and Vesica have combined to come close enough for a ****SPOILER**** A blarfingar is a self-referencing secret rulebreaker (ie a rulebreaker where you don't say it's a rulebreaker) that is disguised as a neologism puzzle. However, a blarfingar rulebreaker is uncnventional in other ways too. While questions which make progress on the solution must be answered truthfully, questions which are on the wrong track can be answered in any way the host desires. Which is precisely what I did. And the etymology of this comes from the episode of Saturday Night Life where Betty White tel.ls the Census collector her name is "Blarfingar Blarfingar" spelled "John Smith". Look it up on Youtube if you haven't seen it yet. Good job everyone even if you just fell onto the answer. |

"even if you just fell onto the answer" Um, wow. Thanks for giving us credit for intelligence or effort. You do realize it's nearly impossible for us guess something that by definition can't be named for what it is? This was a challenge and, being honest, more frustrating than enterataining at points. But clever and definitely something new! |

You do realize it's nearly impossible for us guess something that by definition can't be named for what it is? This was a challenge and, being honest, more frustrating than enterataining at points. But clever and definitely something new! Well, I'm sure you'd have figured it out eventually. And once Balin determined that THIS was a blarfingar, it would have made it significantly easier. But you had essentially pointed out there was no logic, although you didn't actually think there was NO logic, you just thought it appeared that way. But I'm sure you'd have gotten that part eventually for real, particularly after Balin made that good question at the end. But at that point, you'd already gotten the rest of it, albeit by accident. So sorry if I sounded a bit harsh there. |

It was a little harsh, but no big deal. Thank you for the sorry. Hopefully you were not offended that I called you on it. *shrugs* My personal preference, especially on message boards, it to be really up front about any offense/hurt and let it be resolved rather than fret about it. |
