It seems like something you'd see on a list of jokes, but that's really how they caught the criminal. |

Loving this one already. The title is making me giggle. Is his crime relevant? Was it: Theft? Assult? Breaking & Entering? Speeding? Murder? Blackmail? Hit & Run? DUI? Is he a H/A/M? Is that relevant? Can we call him Clem? Is the country relevant? Time period? Specific city? Is this in a rural area? Urban? Suburban? Relevant? |

Is his crime relevant? it's a she ... Was it: Theft? Assult? Breaking & Entering? Speeding? Murder? Blackmail? Hit & Run? DUI? Either assault or battery, I'm not really sure of the distinction and the article stated that she would be charged with "assault or battery". Is he a H/A/M? HAF Is that relevant? H and A are relevant, although I suppose she could be an older teenager as well. Female is not relevant. Can we call him Clem? Her name is Tina, so just call her that. Is the country relevant? No, assume USA Time period? Present day, though this is not particularly relevant Specific city? No. It happened in Florida, in case you're curious. I'm not going to give you the city at this time to guard against googling Is this in a rural area? Urban? Suburban? Relevant? Irr |

Is it relevant who Tina comitted Assult/Battery against? It was a neighbor but it could have been a number of kinds of people, see below More than one person? No A relative? Could be, but not likely Spouse? Even less likely than above, but possible I suppose Child? You mean her child? Then no. Friend? Possibly Boss or employer? Highly unlikely, but I suppose it could have happened. In general, it is irrelevant who she did it to, but it is somewhat relevant that it is more likely to have been some people than others. Is her profession relevant? Religion? Hobbies? No to all |

Do we need more detail on the teeth? Was it a partial plate? A single false tooth? Did she throw it at someone? Spit it at someone? Did the police have her teeth? And used DNA to find her? Dental records? Waited to see who called dentists for replacements? Questioned a group and looked for the one with no teeth? |

Do we need more detail on the teeth? Was it a partial plate? A single false tooth? None of these - it was REAL teeth. There is another relevant detail about these teeth which you need to determine, but they were REAL teeth, not false teeth. Did she throw it at someone? Spit it at someone? So no to these Did the police have her teeth? And used DNA to find her? Dental records? Waited to see who called dentists for replacements? No to these four except dental records is a little bit OTRT Questioned a group and looked for the one with no teeth? No, they were REAL teeth. However, this is pretty OTRT as well. |

Did she bite someone? YES! And they used the unique "bite print" to locate her? No, but a little OTRT Was there something unusual about her teeth? No, but ... Were one or more missing? No, but... Hint: Finding out some detail about the setting is relevant. You don't need to determine the exact setting, but there is one part of it which is relevant. And actually, now that I think of it, determining the exact setting would help you a little bit more than determining the general setting, but is not necessary did she have gold fillings? No |

Did she lose a tooth in the person? No The setting This wasn't exactly what I meant by "setting", but it will still help you : A home? In reality it was this, which is the most likely setting An office? Could not have been this A restaurant? Possibly could have been this, but unlikely given the circumstances A farm? Also could have been this, I suppose, but unlikely A carnival? Potentially could have been this for svv/DOYD of "carnival" A church? Possibly though unlikely. I know some churches where this could theoretically have happened and others where it could not have. Either way I doubt it. A bar? Definitely not this A pawn shop? Or this (although technically it theoretically could have been here, I suppose, but I have no idea why it would be) A feed store? Same as pawn shop A barn? Unless it was part of one of the other locations, same as pawn shop A field? Once again, unless it was part of one of the other locations (like a field in somebody's backyard) same as pawn shop. Hint: By setting, I did not just mean geographical location. |

Tattoos relevant? Perfume relevant? Was the person bitten by Tina only? Or was he bitten by something/somebody else? Wild guess: Did Tina have a dog that bit the person, too? *cough* Setting - Noun "the surroundings or environment of anything" *cough* Is this based on a true story? If yes, could we just stick with "House" since that is where it actually happened versus pondering the possibiltiies of everywhere it could have, but actually didn't happen? By setting did you mean: The setting of her teeth? What was happening at the time (this is more 'circumstances' than setting)? Like a party? Was it day? Night? Was this home in an urban area? Suburban? Or being far more likely in 90% of Florida - Rural? Being even MORE likely for Florida - Is it a trailer? Is this relevant? |

Had all the other (adult) guests on the party some teeth missing? YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 (I can hardly believe this, though, but who knows.) Welll believe it becaause it's time for a ********SPOILER***** From the "Weird but True" section of the NY Post: This story sounds like a punch line to a "You might be a redneck" joke. A woman in Naples, Fla., was busted for allegedly biting a neighbor at a birthday party for the suspect's toddler son. The woman initially denied she did it, but she was identified as the biter -- because she was the only person at the party with a full set of teeth, according to police. The article doesn't say if there were other adults there or only toddlers, but in any case, that's how it happened. Good job everyone, and Sundowner for the final solve. Good puzzle, though I do feel the need to point out that almost no one living in Naples, FL would be considered a "redneck". Naples is in Southwest Florida in an area including Fort Myers and Sarasota that is well known for being VERY affulent, with lots of wealthy retirees. Florida does have a lot of rednecks (or Crackers (referring to the cracking whips of early cowboys) but not anywhere near this part of the state. |
