Going to try something a little different here and see how well you can get inside the mind of a criminal. Police in the this case have a good guess what happened. How about you? Why only O? |

Is the "O" directly related to the motive for the theft? Or is it something that's coincidentally at the crime scene? Is it relevant what was stolen? Was anything actually stolen? Was the "O", either alone or with other letters, some sort of calling card the criminal wanted to leave behind? Has this criminal successfully committed any theft previously? So did the police detect a pattern based on the "O"? Could the "O", in and of itself, be used as evidence to convict the criminal? Or some aspect of it? The appearance of it? So there was a visible letter O somewhere at the crime scene? Like on a sign? Written on paper? Stamped on something? Typed on a computer monitor? On a computer keyboard? Is the "O" capital or lower case? Does this matter? |

Did the criminal steal something that would be generally viewed as valuable? Such as... jewelry? electronics? computers/laptops? ipads? TV's? game systems? Was the criminal lured to the crime scene by the "O", and what it meant? Or was he lured by something else? Did he steal what he came to steal? Or did he come for one thing and end up taking something else? Was the "O" printed on a 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper? Something bigger? Smaller? |

Hominid Was the O torn from the others? No Cut? No Was it clearly visible? Yes Shez was the O printed on an envelope? Could be, but more likely a paper or sticker. Redwine Were the stolen items marked with "O's"? Yes... Were the items not stolen (left by thief) marked with "O's"? There were "O"s left behind. Did the thief steal mobiles? Like phones or the things you hang over cribs? No to both. Did the thief steal the items of historical value?(works of art? old books? antiques?) No to these I am headed out of town soon on business so... HINT: We've determined that WHAT was stolen is important. WHERE it was stolen from might help you get the what as well as the "O". |

Was it a department store? No Was it a Walmart/Target/K-Mart/equivalent? This could happen at these stores (or grocery stores), but there is another "kind of store" that might help you all get to the solution faster. Was the O taken with the criminal? Yes Is the O itself valuable? Not at all Was the O intended to be a letter, as opposed to just a circle? It's a letter. Was it part of a word? No Was it a label along with other letters (...L,M,N,O,P...)? YES!! Could the criminal have committed the crime if there was no O? Yes Would he have? He may have. If so, would he still have gotten caught? The actual criminal in this case has not been caught to date. |

RECAP: Why only O? We know: * It is the letter O. * Yope to “An initial”, “name of a person” * More than one “O” involved! * The O (Os) was at the crime scene, not brought by thief. * The O (Os) was alone and part of words. * Theft by 1 person involved. * The O is directly related to the motive for the theft. * One “O” was a label, printed on paper and related to items being kept in alphabetical order, by owner name. * More than one item stolen. Bigger than a fist, smaller than a breadbox. * Items stolen were valuable. * Items stolen from a shop. Specific type to be determined. * Thief “Yope-ishly” stole what he came for. Hope this helps some. |

A thief broke into a pharmacy and stole all the prescriptions for people whose last name starts with an "O". He probably intended to steal all medications starting with an O, looking for oxycodone or oxycontin, but ended up with a bunch of junk (like antibiotics for Mr. Olsen and birth control for Mrs. O'Brien). ...question mark? |
