Harrison's eagerness to know resulted in him not knowing at all. Him = Harrison |

Harrison: H? A? M? Living at the end of the story? Was Harrison eager to know simply out of curiosity? Because of possible material gain? Another kind of gain? Avoidance of material loss? Another kind of loss? |

Another kind of gain? Avoidance of material loss? Another kind of loss? The thing Harrison wants to know and the reason why he wants to know it are irrelevant for this puzzle. Assume it's the time and place where his friends want to meet. Harrison = HAM? See above Time period relevant? Yesish Time period now-ish? Yes To know: A fact? This A person? His cell phone rang and he was so excited to receive the call, he dropped his phone and broke it? Is his name relevant? Is Harrison a given name or surname? |

Was the thing he was eager to know about the same thing he ended up knowing nothing about? Was he trying to find this thing out by talking to someone face-to-face? On the phone? |

Did he place the call? Did he receive the call? Was there no call at all? Was someone supposed to call him and didn't? Did someone hang up on him? Did he use a land line? We are assuming he was arranging a meeting with friends; was his correspondent one of these friends? Or doesn't it matter... |

He kept checking his cell phone to see if his friend called yet, causing him to run down his battery and miss the call. |

Is the fact only important to Harrison and his friend(s)? Could I look up this fact on Google? On Wikipedia? In the phone book? In the dictionary? In a foreign language dictionary? By searching Harrison's friend's house? By asking a random person on the street? By asking an expert in the subject? |

Could Harrison recharge the battery of the phone? Would Harrison need to leave his cell phone somewhere in order to have the battery charged? Was Harrison aware that his phone is short on battery? |

Was he waiting for a call directly to his cell? Or was he using his cell to call into a voicemail box over and over? And thus ran down the battery? Is it relevant where Harrison is? Is it a location that would be more taxing on a cell phone battery than most? Is the phone having trouble finding a signal? |

******* SPOILER ******* Harrison is one of those persons who would listen to music on their MP3 player whenever they leave the house. On a day when he had to spend several hours outside, he expected an important call to his cell phone, but since he was afraid of not hearing his phone ring when using his MP3 player, he listened to the music on his phone instead. This drained its battery so much that the phone turned off before Harrison recieved his call. |
