Okay, this is my first attempt at a rulebreaker. It's based on a German kids' game called "department store" (there might of course be similar games in other languages/countries...) although this one's slightly different. You're in a department store. You decide to which floor you want to go, if you want to turn left or right and what you want to buy there. So your "questions" should roughly look like this: "I go to the second floor, turn right and buy a banana." I'll tell you whether it's possible to buy the item there, and there will also be CA's. Note that I'll use the British system, so you enter the store at the ground floor, not the first floor. Doriana's Department Store opens now - have fun and don't spend too much money! | ||

Here's a HINT: In some cases, responses may vary. Today, you can buy a banana on the right on the first floor, although some days ago you couldn't. However, you'll always be able to buy a 1:1 model of the earth on the right on every floor. | ||

HINT: When you can buy an object on the first floor on the left handside, you can always buy it on the left handside on the second floor too. Objects that you can't buy on the right handside on the first floor can't be bought on the right handside on the second floor either. It's a bit more difficult with objects on the ground floor. Maybe a few more left turns would help (: | ||

Loooong RECAP (for Kaylee and all the others) In my department store, you can buy things on the ground floor, first floor and second floor, both on the left and on the right side. Things that can be bought on the left side usually can't be bought on the right side of the corresponding floor and vice versa. When you can buy an object on the first floor on the left handside, you can always buy it on the left handside on the second floor too. Objects that you can't buy on the right handside on the first floor can't be bought on the right handside on the second floor either. So far, you haven't found an object that can be bought on the left side of the ground floor, but maybe you can find one if you look at my HINT from Nov 9. The right side of my department store seems to be a special place where you can buy 1:1 scale models of the earth, mythical creatures, a million apples, wild animals... whereas the left side seems to be pretty ordinary. In some cases, responses may vary, but this has nothing to do with when/where/by whom/how the question is asked. So... HINT: the rule seems to be somewhere outside of the puzzle itself. | ||

Oh and if anyone's interested, here are the rules of the game that this rulebreaker was loosely based on - The aim is the same - to guess the rule. The group sits in a circle. When it's your turn, you basically ask the same kind of question that we used here, but the answer is determined in a different way: If you go to floor x on the right/left side to buy y, you can buy it if the person sitting x places away from you on your right/left has this object on their body. Do you have similar children's games in your respective countries? I know some more, and I'm trying to adapt them for the internet... my next rulebreaker is coming soon (: |
