Gonna attempt a scrundish one:

As a child, she had a scrund which had been imposed on her by her father. As an adult, she realized why.

Kind of a scrund +, this, I suppose: what was the scrund and why was it imposed on her?

was the scrund about a thing? if so, was it a tangible thing? an intangible thing? something that could be felt? heard? smelled? touched? tasted?

a person? if so, a famous person? an infamous/notorious person? a person she knew? about her father?

an event?

if event, an event that had taken place in her father's lifetime, but not hers? or when she was too young to remember it? was it something historical, or something personally related to her father and/or her? or to her family generally?

Did her father impose it on her to protect her? Or himself? Someone else?

Is the mother relevant?
As an adult, is she grateful for what her father did? Would she have done the same thing?

As an adult, is she grateful for what her father did? not really Would she have done the same thing? I really don't know - if I were to guess I would say no

a belief imposed to ensure she would obey him, whether his motives were what we would call good, or not? not obey him in general no, but he did want her to act accordingly in regards to the subject of this scrund

was it something designed to keep her safe? no

like saying there are crocodiles in the river so that she won't get too close and fall in? hehe, no

is it to do with people? places? a place? a time of day? darkness? no to all of these, I believe, except if you count a very vague connection to places, but that will probably confuse more than clarify

Since this puzzle seems to have gone a bit dead, I'll do a recap:

As a child, she (H/A/F) had a scrund which had been imposed on her by her father (H/A/M). As an adult, she (same person) realized why.

She is currently alive, but is not famous.

Her father intentionally gave her the scrund, aware that what he told her wasn't true. He kind of did it to ensure her good behaviour, DOYD of good behaviour. He did want her to act in a specific way in regards to the subject of the scrund. He did not mean to scare her.

The scrund was not about a person or an event, the closest anyone has come yet to the subject is "a thing", but that's not quite right either (and I believe working this out would be a good road to follow from here).

(Fictous creatures, monsters and drugs are all irrelevant)

*****SPOILER*****

As a child, she used to go fishing with her father. She was a very talkative little girl, and in an attempt to keep her silent for a while, her father told her that speaking while fishing scared the fish away. As an adult, she went fishing and tried to pass this information on (to me, actually). When she was met with a puzzled look, it dawned on her that her father might have told her this just to shut her up.

Thanks for playing, and congrats to Shez on nailing it! :D

Interesting puzzle Jondahr. I'm a keen angler and I always try and stay as quiet as possible. Trout are particularly sensitive to noise in my experience although my favourite quarry the Pike are less so.

In fact fish are more likely to be put off by bright clothing and can be spooked if they rise to the surface and spot you. So you should cam up where possible.

interesting - I was certainly told the same thing so maybe I was a talkative little girl. whenever my family were walking by a river or canal where there were anglers, we would always keep ultra quiet - maybe we were more worried about the anglers than the fish!
