...but in fact you experience fawry, and the longer it lasts, the more annoying it gets. Heh, hopping onto the Neologism bandwagon ^^ |

Do you see an object? Yes If you, animate? inanimate? a person? a situation? a picture of something? Can be many things, but usually, it's an inanimate object Can it happen indoors? outdoors? Both, with outdoors being more likely At your house? someone else's house? school/uni? work? a shop? a public place? Can be any of these under the right circumstances, but out of these, somebody's house might be least likely. But as I said, it's more likely to happen outdoors than indoors. |

Is it connected with a movie or TV program that you've watched? I'll broaden this: Is it a cerebral connection, and not a reminder of food or drink? [Oh, lord. Not to leave anything out: a bit of graffiti on a nearby wall always has my boyfriend singing songs about farts, and that led to our favorite Miami Herald columnist, Carl Hiaasen. (His name is pronounced HIGH-a-sin, but it's often mis-pronounced HIGH - ASSIN', hence the jokes that my bf is utterly unashamed of.)] And, of course, this private information is to go no further than this board. DOYD of phenomena, but I don't think so. Can a very nearsighted person experience it without glasses? Probably not Is writing relevant? No Can you experience it in the middle of nowhere? Yes In fog? Indeed, binoculars in reverse makes stuff smaller. Try it! Is it relevant that the object looks smaller? That you can't make out as many details? Does the fawry end when you're close enough to see the object better? Would bad eyesight (meaning that you need to get closer to see as good) make the fawry last longer? Since this has been going on for quite a while without one, here's a RECAP. I think you're already close but the multitude of posts might make this confusing. Fawry is a phenomenon you experience when moving towards an object, usually by walking. While the object itself is not relevant, it is relevant that it seems small during the fawry. It is an annoying phenomenon and it becoms increasingly annoying the longer it lasts. Looking somewhere else while moving helps and the fawry ends before you actually reach the object. It's more likely to happen outdoors than indoors. |

When I have to take the garbage down to the dumpster and it's getting dark/is dark outside, I start getting this (irrational?) fear that there's someone concealed inside the enclosure, waiting for me to open the door so he can shoot me. Kaylee, before we moved to our present house, where we have our own garbage can/rubbish bin, we lived in a mobile home park. One day, in broad daylight, my husband was taking a sack of garbage to the dumpster, and something was in the dumpster that tried to get him - a racoon! He managed to hit it right on the nose with the sack, and made it soooo mad, but the trash wasn't high enough that it could climb out, thankfully. |

it would be worse if it was a kitteh...=( which could theoretically happen. a cat could possibly get into the dumpster. Pet cats run around loose a bit in our area and at least two of my neighbors have cats. Now, if a cat slipped in past the gate into the closed off place where the dumpster is, and then climbed in when someone opened the lid, they could get trapped in there if the someone shut the lid on them... of course if it was a person-kitteh then I'd really be worried. O_O But a trapped kitteh is no good. =( |

I'm not sure whether this is just rephrasing biograd and potato's earlier questions... Is fawry the sensation that you aren't getting any closer to the object that you're using as a point of reference? aren't getting there as quickly as you'd like, i.e. It just seems the same size as before, or only slightly bigger... |

YES! aren't getting there as quickly as you'd like, i.e. It just seems the same size as before, or only slightly bigger... Yes, that too And this is solved! The you-know-what is coming up later. |

********** SPOILER ********** Fawry (a condensed form of "far away") is the sensation that an object that you're walking towards doesn't seem to come any closer although you are constantly moving. Sometimes I experience it to such an extent that I feel as if I was not only walking in one spot but even backwards... Good job solving this one and having the patience to stick with this :-) |
