...so I've stolen another puzzle statement, this one by Ciaobella. No one would believe the good doctor until a man with no medical background supported his claim. |

Did the claim concern the medical field? One of "the good doctor"'s patient? Good Doctor = H? A? M? Same questions for "man"? Can we call the "good doctor" Doctor Brown? And the man with no medical background Pablo? Is time and place relevant? If so, LTPF List of Centuries and Countries? Was this a major scientific discovery? Or, just a thought... was the claim even true? |

Have you actually stolen Ciaobella's solution as well, and are trying to run the exact same puzzle again? :p Was the statement Doctor Brown made about his patient about the mental state of the latter? Is the patient and Pablo the same guy, or are they two different people? Anyone else relevant to the puzzle apart from these two or three people? |

I'm flattered! If I should stay out of this one, please ignore my questions. Did Doctor Brown claim that the patient had a mental disorder? that his mental state was normal/average? Did the patient believe Doctor Brown? Is Pablo's profession relevant? |

Did Doctor Brown claim that the patient had a mental disorder? that his mental state was normal/average? This Did the patient believe Doctor Brown? No Is Pablo's profession relevant? Yes Is the doctor's patient male? Female? This Relevant? Not really If female, can we call her Claire? OK If Male, can we call him Clyde? Did Doctor Brown try to say this thing to the patient? did Pablo find something out about Claire Yope which proved that she was not mentally ill? Yes in the course of his duties as a detective? Yes had it been assumed that Claire was imagining things? No is this like that film where the husband is trying to convince the wife that she is going mad? There are some similarities -- someone is trying to convince her that she's going mad -- but I don't know what film you're talking about or convince everyone else? Not so much "everyone else" as "her" |

The person trying to make her believe she was mad- HAM? related to her by blood? by marriage? professionally? was it a "friend"? neighbor? relevant? There were two people making her believe this. However, any other information will ruin the story this is from for you, so I will just say that they are HA-either M or F, and that you can assume for the puzzle that they are "friends." |

Were they doing this to protect her? No for financial gain? This may have been their motive, but not what you're looking for for some other benefit for themselves? Same as the previous by accident? No to hurt her? Yesish/Yope to keep her from doing something? No to cause her to do something? No, but... as a joke/prank? No to distract her? No to distract others? No |

So some people slipped Claire some drugs that made her hallucinate. Claire began thinking she might be one bun short of a cheezburgur so she saw the good doctor. He said she was fine, and no one believed him until the detective revealed all. Is that accurate? This is exciting, Balin! I do feel bad for poor Claire, though. |

That she had been abducted by aliens? That she had had a stroke? That something was physically wrong with her brain? That she knew something she shouldn't know? **********SPOILER********** This is the plot of an Agatha Christie book, Third Girl. The summary below gives some information about the plot, but does not reveal the killer. The book centers around a young woman, Norma Restarick, who comes to Hercule Poirot to confess to a murder she might have committed. Poirot investigates, and eventually discovers that Norma is not a murderess, but has been drugged to think she is, and that the same people who drugged her committed the murder. Nice work everyone, nice solve Jondahr et al. |

Oh, forgot the bit about the doctor: Poirot has hired a doctor to look after Norma. At the book's climax, the good doctor declares her sane, despite everyone else (except Poirot) believing her to be insane. But Poirot proves that she was, in fact, being drugged. |
