Because of two sisters and my mum, I'm somewhat reluctant to adopt a North American practice that is becoming more and more common in Germany. |

Did the sisters and mother try the practice with a negative outcome? Would they disapprove if you adopted the practice? Would something else bad happen if you adopted the practice? Relevant that the family members you mentioned are female? The practice is related to -family? -home? -work? -leisure time? -appearance? -possessions? -religion? -ceremonies? -government? |

did your godmother pick your middle name? no The godmother thing is actually not relevant to solve the puzzle. Just a short RECAP I'm reluctant to adopt the increasingly popular practice of abbreviating my middle name initial, K. This is because it'd spell K. Ack, which is German for P. Oop. My mother and two sisters are relevant. I am not named after the sister, nor is my middle name inspired my them. This is very relevant and should be explored. One of the sisters is my godmother, which should tell you something about their relation to my mum. Explore this, too (: |

were you originally planned to have another middle name? first name? or your mum had a decision to make on a shortlist of two or more names? did anyone else at all who is relevant to the puzzle have the name that begins with K? a name that begins with K (and is relevant to the puzzle)? For the remaining part of the puzzle - could this be any name? is it the act of using an initial that is relevant? Do the sisters have (for want of a better term) rubbish names? Did they (one of them) wish they were called K______? Did they (or one of them) once write your name down? In a christening gift? |

That's everything you need to know about the practice. The only thing to figure out is what the sisters have to do with my middle name - remember that it's not inspired by them and have a look at my first answer to this round of questions again (: Do the sisters have (for want of a better term) rubbish names? Did they (one of them) wish they were called K______? no to both Did they (or one of them) once write your name down? In a christening gift? no or irrel |

Did somebody suggest that you having a middle name like "K" would give you later some problems? Is your (first or last) name relevant to the puzzle (other than the thing already established)? Did the two sisters had any thing to say in choosing your middle name? Is anybody relevant besides your mum and the two sisters? |

Were you originally supposed to have a middle name inspired by the sisters? But then your parents decided that you should have a name that's not related to them? |

Was it your mother who wanted you to have the name inspired by the sisters? One of the sisters? Somebody elae? Relevant? Was the name one that the sister herself wanted to name a child? Did it remind her of someone she disliked? Or did she otherwise have a negative association with it? |

so your middle name was going to be x, after sister x, but your mum changed her mind because she thought sister y would be upset at being left out? |

so your middle name was going to be x, after sister x, but your mum changed her mind because she thought sister y would be upset at being left out? YES! ********SPOILER******** Back when my mum was pregnant with me, she was best friends with two sisters. My mum picked a middle name that was very similar to the name of one of the sisters (although, she says that in retrospect she's not too sure if it was actually inspired by her). But then she thought this might cause sister rivalry because the other sister might feel left out. So my mum picked a middle name that has nothing to do with their names. However, I'm reluctant to adopt the increasingly popular practice of abbreviating my middle name initial, K. This is because it'd spell K. Ack, which is German for P. Oop. That's two solves in a row for Andy (: Thanks for playing, folks, and don't forget to have a look at my "Hide and Seek" versponse. |
