so did you know that already? was it obvious? did everybody know that?

did everybody who dealt with that particular object know that?

I'm reminded of Starbucks or MacD's cups which tell you that the coffee is hot, or packaging which warns you that an object is heavy after you've already lifted it

did you read it on packaging? a label?

And it was not a text in a window or bubble popping up?

Is it a text that is displayed when you have the the cursor hover over a button or something?

Is it a status display such as "Saving"?

Is the text shown in a menu?
Printing relevant?

That 000000AB (with AB being the two letters) was not a valid number? No.
Would this work with one letter following the 00000, too? Yes, but not every letter. It would work also with three letters. I cannot think about anything longer that also would work, but maybe there are also longer sets of letters that would work.
Would this work with a space after the 00000? In that case there was a space between 00000 and letters, so yes.
Regular expressions relevant? No.
Any sort of (VBA) macro relevant? No.

HINTS:
The fact that MS WORD did communicate to me was a mathematical truth. My work concerns real estates and it's relevant.

so the first letter was "x"? or "*"?

*********SPOILER*************
I was preparing a draft contract on real estate and didn't know the area. So, as we do in the office, I entered 0000 ha (hectares) - to fill it later. Then a little cloud appeared, which I accidentally hit. It was an intelligent tag, which informed me that 0000 hectares is 0000 acres! Oh really? I would never ever guess that! It was the first time I hit this tag and it disturbed me for a while to find out what is it and what it wanted to say.

Thanks for everybody who played, especially Andy and Shez to make a finish.
