A woman started a very successful career, but the more skills she acquired, the less popular she became to her audience. |

was she in the entertainment industry? did she start out with one particular skill? did she become less popular because the audience only really appreciated the original skill? or because the new skills were ones they did not appreciate? would her new skills have been more popular with a different audience? true story? FYOI? FSEI? |

Did she focus more on the additional skills than her original skills? So she became less good and less funny? |

If this was a real life puzzle, I could think of several people who would fit. Since it's FYOI, I'll mull it over for a while. |

Was the original humour in her act to do with the fact that she was bad at something but persisited in doing it e.g. many comedians get laughs from playing an incompetent magician who's tricks go wrong? Did she then become actually good at the skill and her act suffered accordingly? Does the skill require dexterity? juggling? spinning plates? something like this? |

did she walk on stilts? roller skates? ice skates?YES *****SPOILER***** She was a clown at either Ice Follies or Ice Capades, who produced lots of laughs when she fell on the ice. However, when she improved at skating, she had trouble making herself fall, resulting in her becoming replaced. |

Maybe I shouldn't have included the word "audience" in the original clue. You figured that out quickly! |
