Was he oblivious to something because he was drunk? Less sensitive to pain? Confused about something? Dizzy? When he mastered the skill finally, was he attempting to master it? Or did he accidentally do what he wanted to do for a long time? Is it a skill that involves another person? Does it involve alcohol? Is it a magic trick? |

Was he oblivious to something because he was drunk? this is the best answer of these Less sensitive to pain? Confused about something? Dizzy? When he mastered the skill finally, was he attempting to master it? Or did he accidentally do what he wanted to do for a long time? i think this- he wasn't thinking about doing it right per se, he just wanted the result Is it a skill that involves another person? Does it involve alcohol? Is it a magic trick? none of these |

Wild guess: was he trying to master opening a wine/champagne bottle? And since he already drank one, opening a second while inebriated became easier? |

so he was drinking while having peanuts? no something occurred to him while he was drunk? this is part of it is he a chef? he can be if you want- this is FMOI and just inspired by someone i know trying to make some specific dish? only in that peanut brittle is a specific candy did he do something accidentally whilst drunk which resulted in a new recipe for peanut brittle? no like dropping some peanuts in a hot toffee mixture? no but that sounds good The particular skill: brining sugar syrup to the right temperature? this is part of it but not the main difference smoothing the mixture in the form? breaking cooled candy? something else? and this- though i wouldn't exactly call the specific action we're looking for a skill in itself a combination of skills? |

Hi again, I was on this site briefly some years ago as QuackScience So here we go. Was the peanut brittle always undercooked? Being drunk did our chef loose track of time to distractions? Was the end result that the brittle was cooked long enough to be perfect? |

Did being drunk inhibit some fear he had? no Hi again, I was on this site briefly some years ago as QuackScience Hi So here we go. Was the peanut brittle always undercooked? Being drunk did our chef loose track of time to distractions? Was the end result that the brittle was cooked long enough to be perfect? DINGDINGDING! to all WHEEEE SPOILER Sugar syrup for brittle needs to be brought to above 150 degrees Celsius- and left there for a while for the sugar molecules to break down. It's tempting to take it off the burner once it starts bubbling menacingly, but all that will get you is a sticky mess. Our intrepid cook decided he wanted peanut brittle NOW after partying and whipped up a quick syrup mixture, but quickly got distracted by TV or video games or something shiny. Because of this, he forgot about the hot syrup until it was almost burnt, and quickly poured it out onto the closest available pan. This was exactly what he had needed to do all along to finally stop making messes and start making good candy! |
