When I retured to work after holidays, the manager told me that there is a decision to change something in my working surrounding. I was very surprised to hear it, but after a while I knew the decision is right. Explain. I=me=RedWine. True story again. |

Was the decision -- to provide the same computer with another accessory device (like mouse, keyboard, etc)? If so, replacing one already present? Adding one? To provide to you another computer? To "personalize" some of the objects involved? Maybe changing your desktop or screen-saver with photos from your wedding, for example? |

Was the old keyboard not performing well? Is the new keyboard identical to the old one? (If not: smaller? bigger? cheaper? more expensive? displaying different characters? having an unusual layout (a QWERTY being replaced by a Dvorak?) Is it relevant that the decision has been made after you came from the holiday? Was it a normal, business-like decision, or was it taken jokingly? |

Was it a gift? (At least in the sense that owing to the fact that your old keyboard was performing badly, the management decided that it should be replaced) |

BLOOPER: Was the old keyboard not performing well? The answer should be "No." My keyboard worked and still works well. Rbruma: Was it a gift? No, the purpose was not a gift. (At least in the sense that owing to the fact that your old keyboard was performing badly, the management decided that it should be replaced) See above, sorry for misleading you, I read the question incorrectly. My bad. Thousands apologies. |

Does the company gain any financial profit from replacing your keyboard? Are you getting a new keyboard, i.e. one that hasn't been used before? Are you swapping keyboards with someone? With the person who worked at your desk while you were away? |

Does the new keyboard have a function the old does not have? (Additional keys? fingerprint scanner?) Will it be a wireless keyboard? Does some function of the old keyboard not work properly but you never bothered because you do normally not use this function? Does the new keyboard have a country-specific layout? (like French instead of English) Do the keys have a different color? |

Were they unable to type normally with the letters worn off? Do they have to look at the keyboard to type? So the worn-off letters make it harder for them to type, but not you? |

Balin: So they're replacing the keyboard for their benefit, not yours? Yes. Am I missing anything? No. As there is only one tiny element missing - why I was surprised - I may as well announce the... ********SPOILER********** When I came back to work after holidays, my manager told me that they will replace my keyboard with a new one. I was at first surprised, but then it came to me that the letters of my keyboard are worn-off, which causes no problem to me (I touch-type), but may cause serious problems to my co-workers. The funny thing is, that I had never noticed before that the letters are not visible! Thanks for playing. |
