Does "this" happen only once a year? Once ever? Is "this" something personal? Or would everyone know of it? Does "this" always occur on the same date (like a birthday)? Would he get in trouble for forgeting it? |

Does "this" happen only once a year? Once ever? "this" is a one off event that took place in the frame of the puzzle. it is FMOI but based on a real life event. Is "this" something personal? Or would everyone know of it? i'm not sure how to answer these, i think they are questions based on an FA. I hope the answer above helps. In the frame of the puzzle, and at the time of the puzzle statement, a limited number of people would be aware that "this" had occurred Does "this" always occur on the same date (like a birthday)? no, it happened once Would he get in trouble for forgetting it? for forgetting that this had occurred? strictly speaking, possibly, but irr and also FA i think... |

Has the detective viewed a murdered corpse? Was the suspicion that it occurred on the Tuesday based on any forensics? a post mortem? something in the vacinity of the crime scene? Is there any object that is dated anywhere in the crime scene e.g. a newspaper? Is this particular murder part of a series? In case you didn't realise I asked the Taxi Driver question because I thought you were quoting De Niro in the puzzle title. Is the movie Taxi Driver in any way relevant? |

i've been reading through the posts and seen that perhaps one of my answers could have been misleading at the time. i think it's since been clarified the hard way, but for the avoidance of doubt, the false assumption was that there was only one corpse and not that they were discovered in a house - which is true. |

if not pictures, does the calendar have symbols on it? it does have pictures on it, but they aren't relevant to why the detective thought this happened on the previous Tuesday. hint: they are perhaps somewhat relevant, however, to you getting on the right lines to solving the puzzle. hence the 'yope' to peter's question writing? no |

*RECAP* Shortly after arriving at the crime scene, a detective strongly suspects that the crime occurred on the previous tuesday. the crime scene is somebody's home and there are a number of corpses present, including victims who have been murdered, and the murderer, who has committed suicide. The detective's suspicion comes from viewing a calendar at the crime scene. There is nothing written on the calendar, and no symbols, but there are pictures. From the calendar, the detective deduces that the victims should have done something since last tuesday that has not been done. Surely someone can $poyle this for me from the recap? |

***********SPOILER************ Upon arriving at the scene, it was clear that the guy had cruelly murdered his wife and three children before turning the gun on himself. Detective Wright looked sadly upon the unopened presents beneath the tree, when something caught his attention. He walked over to the advent calendars on the wall, all in a row. Noticing the unopened doors he remarked "I'd say this happened last Tuesday" Thanks for playing the puzzle with me, and have a very merry xmas |
