(in the technical sense, not the schoolyard bullying sense.) no to all is this abnormality the result of a specific incident...something like an assault on her? a car accident? some other physical trauma? mental trauma? emotional trauma? abuse? {The condition of no longer being a Normal person is due to a specific happening, but not a bad one. Does "normal" refer to majority, so "not normal" signifies belonging to a small(er) group? Does becoming "not normal" involve: passing an exam? archiving a recognition? reaching a goal? having a physical alteration done, such as a surgical procedure? or a hair color change? |

Does "normal" refer to majority, so "not normal" signifies belonging to a small(er) group? In my case, "normal" was on my library card, so the group would be patrons of a small-town library, not a large number. In her case, perhaps slightly more, but not thousands or millions of people. Does becoming "not normal" involve: passing an exam? In her case, yes, but could be misleading. archiving a recognition? reaching a goal? Yessish to these, too. having a physical alteration done, such as a surgical procedure? or a hair color change? Nothing like these. |

Is it a transition from "general public" to a "special group", or from "special group" to an "exclusive" withing that group? Is this change perceived as positive? Could the puzzle statement be phrased "I am not yet, but she is.", reversing the condition it refers to? |

Is it a transition from "general public" to a "special group", In her case, the opposite; she was in a special group & can now be classified as 'general public, "in a way. or from "special group" to an "exclusive" withing that group? she was part of a special group, now is not, therefore part of the general public, but could also be seen as belonging to another group, of people who were once Normal people. I'm sorry if that is confusing! Is this change perceived as positive? Yes. Could the puzzle statement be phrased "I am not yet, but she is.", reversing the condition it refers to? Do you mean 'She is not a Normal person, but I am not yet not a Normal person.' Only if our conditions were reversed. |

Yes, she has just graduated from a college which used to be called a Normal School, so you are very much OTRT! |

Did you graduate from the school while it was still called Normal, so you are a "Normal girl" forever?I did not go to that school, and the name was changed before I was born anyhow. And your relative graduated after the name change, so she cannot claim this title? She can claim the title, but not because of the name of the _school_. |

HINT: She recently graduated from a college that used to be called 'Illinois Normal School.' The name was changed long before she was born, so she could not be called a Normal person because she went to that school. But there is a reason that she could still be a Normal person, or was until she graduated. |

Nice puzzle. In Romania, there's a "famous" village whose name can be translated as "Scream". Prior to WW2 (maybe even a short time after) there was a habit for local train conductors arriving at various stations to announce the name of the stations and the time the train will stop there. "Scream (for) five minutes" entered the national folklore :-) |
