If we elect Newt Gingrich, Pat might lose her job. At least that's what Wikipedia seemed to imply. I honestly doubt it's true. |

Newt Gingrich: The actual politician, running in the Republican primaries? Pat: A famous person? Is her profession relevant? |

Newt Gingrich: The actual politician, running in the Republican primaries? Yes Pat: A famous person? Not really, at least not to the point of celebrity status. She is fairly notable Is her profession relevant? Yes, possibly with a slight ish. |

Is her name actually Pat? Well, I believe it's short for Patricia, but yes Is something particular about Gingrich relevant? His name? One particular statement he made, and that's about it. |

Well, since all I know for sure is who Pat is, I'll ask some Newt-related questions. Is the context of Gingrich's statement relevant? Did he say it during a debate? In a commercial? An attack ad? Any of this relevant? Did his comment mention Pat's job/workplace/type of workplace directly? Indirectly? Laterally? |

Well, since all I know for sure is who Pat is, I'll ask some Newt-related questions. Ok.... You can ask who Pat is too, since I doubt anyone else on this forum would get it, and there's a lot more to this puzzle than that. Is the context of Gingrich's statement relevant? Not really Did he say it during a debate? I believe so In a commercial? An attack ad? Any of this relevant? Only in that people know about it Did his comment mention Pat's job/workplace/type of workplace directly? No Indirectly? No Laterally? this is closest |

Since Balin knows who Pat is, he can ask himself. But if he doesn't want to, you'll have to guess. |

Gregory, would you please supply the identity of Pat? Well, technically, I suppose I should say "Yes" to this. But since I know you know who she is, Pat is Pat Myers, from the Style Invitational Contest in the Washington Post. Balin made a puzzle about it a while back. Her nickname is the Empress, and she judges the contest, which has a different theme every week. |

Hint: Try to figure out why it has to be Gingrich, as opposed to Romney, Santorum, Paul, Obama, Gary Johnson, etc. |

Also, remember the last two sentences of the puzzle statement. And remember that you can't use Googlepedia until you determine their significance, at which point I will give you appropriate restrictions. |

Is Gingrich's Wikipedia article relevant? No (other than that it probably reports what is relevant about him.) The Style Invitational's? Yesish - explore this. |

As per the puzzle statement, does Wikipedia imply that Pat might lose her job because the contest may cease to exist? Because someone else may be hired to judge it? Because she may be required to do something else? Does your use of "honestly" in the puzzle statement have any significance other than emphasising that you doubt what Wikipedia implied? |

As per the puzzle statement, does Wikipedia imply that Pat might lose her job because the contest may cease to exist? No: didn't we ask this already? Because someone else may be hired to judge it? Yes or possibly yesish. Because she may be required to do something else? No (other than that she would no longer be the judge and would presumably get another job that required her to do stuff) Does your use of "honestly" in the puzzle statement have any significance other than emphasising that you doubt what Wikipedia implied? No, although another word in the puzzle statement is somewhat significant. |

BTW: Other than reporting Gingrich's relevant thing, the Wikipedia article on him has no relevance to this puzzle. So feel free to googlepedia Newt all you want but stay off the Style Invitational article for now. Although googling it is ok as long as you don't wiki it. |

I will say that the Style Invitational Wikipedia article is yesishly relevant, but no other Wiki article is (other than in the truthful information they report just like any other source). So feel free to wiki anything except the Style Invitational. Once you find out why it's a "yesish" and not a "yes", I will let you, with appropriate restrictions. |

Are any particular contests relevant? You mean Style Invitational contests? No. Current or former judges? Prizes? No to these (other than Pat) Also, I read that Gingrich is dropping out of the race, so jobs are safe. Actually, if this were phrased as a question, the answer would be yesish. According to Wikipedia, there were two ways Pat could lose her job - one is the scenario that could happen if Newt gets elected. The other could still happen, although it is even less believable than the Newt scenario. |
