*hugz hugz* Yes, although it's from the Appendices rather than central to the plot of the main story (or rather, it's not *obviously* central). They live in the same "house", though "house" is rather misleading - another word would be better. They don't exactly live together, at least not yet. She's smiling because he gave her something as well as something else. They are alone in her room - the walls are probably fairly thick, though I'm not sure about the doors. And there are a lot of people close by, even though it's the middle of the night. | ||

Since this is going *nowhere*, let's forget that this is LOTR-related, since these two characters are NOT LotR characters (but...) REFOCUS/RECAP (already? I feel like I'm losing my touch) A H/A/M surprises a younger H/A/F in bed. They live in the same "house" though "house" is not exactly the best word. He expected her to be frightened, but she wasn't. They were alone, and he told her to remain quiet so as not to attract attention. It took about half an hour for the events of this puzzle to transpire. Is it usually supported by a natural structure? Buildings of this type are not necessarily supported by a natural structure, but they are normally fortified somehow. But I'm not going to judge.) lol! to expand, she was the child naturally born into the family, he was the foster child, though her elder, and his heritage is relevant - you can base questions on real cultures, as I adapt what Tolkien said about his culture to a real-world one or two She was not frightened. Right, and she should have been...a normal person in her situation might have been, for whatever value you give "normal". He gave her some flowers. Something else occurred over the course of the next half hour (This is a family-friendly puzzle, right?), and then she was happy. She didn't automatically realize it was him, but she was more confused than frightened. Then she realized it was him, but she didn't know his intentions. The thought of what a man might do to a woman by sneaking into her bed like that didn't even cross her mind (not that he realized this, at first). Let's just say she's not exactly *normal*...work on that, hmm? =) | ||

She was "fae-touched" and did not realize that she was supposed to be afraid. Her mother pops in at about that time- my guess is that she also had a habit of sneaking into the bedrooms of others late in the night- and sees her daughter in bed with the man. I think this is about ready for the ***SPOILER***, especially since I'm currently hosting my Emma kitteh and not likely to focus well on one puzzle, much less two. Well done Ciaobella kitteh. This is from my fanfic "A Children's Story", (name borrowed from a story I've *already* done a puzzle on) about the daughter of Aragorn and Arwen, and their foster-son, taking place some twenty-five years after the end of Return of the King. "Are You Sure, Sweetling?" the puzzle title, is the title of the sequel, which takes place on their wedding night, or rather wedding morning. In this story, Karim, some twenty years older than Celebriel, has been raised by Aragorn and Arwen since the age of fourteen, when Celebriel was born. Following the traditions of his homeland (based on some ancient Middle Eastern traditions I've read about) he 'captured' her in her bed, though he forewent the removing her to *his* bed, and um, consummating the marriage as would be traditional. He has rather more consideration for her than that, thanks to his foster-parents' teachings. Most young women would likely be freaked out by waking up in the night/early hours of the morning to find someone grabbing them in their bed and telling them not to scream, thinking they were going to be violated. But this never crossed Celebriel's mind because of how innocent and naive she was...she was just thoroughly confused. Needless to say, after her mother's explanation, she needed Karim's bouquet of flowers and reassurances of love to calm her. They did go on to marry shortly after that, and Karim has treated her like the princess she is. Her brother, Eldarion, will be King after their father (and I've written about that, too.) | ||
