Must the person's name be John? No; call him whatever you wish. Is using a fake name relevant? No; most likely he would use his real name, or at least his real given name. |

Is it an organisation for people who have an addiction? A support group? Would the introduction as quoted in the puzzle statement be funny for some reason? Illogical? Is it a real organisation? |

Is it funny merely because the "addiction" is hardly serious enough to merit a support group? Or is there something ironic about announcing in front of a group that one has this addiction (for instance, if the group is for "attention-addicts" or "public-speaking addicts", who would be "feeding" their addiction by mentioning it publicly)? |

Is it funny merely because the "addiction" is hardly serious enough to merit a support group? No, it is serious, certainly to the people who have it.Or is there something ironic about announcing in front of a group that one has this addiction (for instance, if the group is for "attention-addicts" or "public-speaking addicts", who would be "feeding" their addiction by mentioning it publicly)? Nothing like that. It just seems odd to call it an "addiction." |

The reason it is not serious enough to be called an addiction: is it a habit that is unlikely to have negative effects one one's life? Does it affect: Productivity? Health? Performance in a job? Does it require an unusual effort to the stop the behaviour? Would close friends who knew someone with this behaviour be concerned? |

The reason it is not serious enough to be called an addiction: is it a habit no that is unlikely to have negative effects one one's life? It could have very negative effects. Does it affect: Productivity? Health? Mainly this. Performance in a job? Does it require an unusual effort to the stop the behaviour? According to this group, yes. Would close friends who knew someone with this behaviour be concerned?I think so - I would be. A compulsion relating to sending and receiving packets to/from the internet? No A compulsion to visit the LTPF www site? *chuckle* No - there's no support group for that! |

Is John a hobbyist? No Does he spend money on the addiction? Hard to say; probably the amount of money he would spend would be minimal, mainly to get to the meetings & the like. He doesn't have a compulsion to buy stuff. |

LTPFers Anonymous? :-P Cheezburgur Kittehz Anonymous? (had to ask, soli kitteh...you know me. -kaylee kitteh, back from LA, and already needing a recat) Okeh - glad you're back, Kayleekitteh! RECAT: John belongs to a support group called _________ Anonymous. Not LTPF Anon or Chezburger Anon. Don't think it could actually be defined as an addiction, but these people really need a support group. Their condition (I suppose you cound say) is negative to them, but would have little or no effect on others. Most people would find it a little ridiculous. They don't have to buy things in connection with their, er, problem. Hope this helps. |

Do the people feel the need to do a certain thing? Collect something? Would it be negative to them because they spend a lot of time on it? Spend money on it? Cannot function normally socially because of it? Does it affect their work? Their relationships? Their health? |

Wolves? Do they think they are werewolves? Yes! **********SPOILER************ Werewolves Anonymous is (or was in the 1990s) headquartered in Baton Rouge, La. Its founder claims that lycanthropy is an organically caused disease, a hormonal imbalace that affects both the mind and body at certain times of the month. What is it with Louisianans, anyway? First organized trees, and now this! Thx to all who took part. Is this what you thought, Kyeann? |
