I'm adopted from Korea, and I speak no Korean at all. Once, I walked into a Korean restaurant, and someone tried to speak Korean to me. It was funny xD. "Obviously not Korean": Because of the way you dressed? Your behavior? Because you're from the USA and look 'American' (I assume, considering you live in RI)? Because you didn't speak Korean? | ||

Did you speak Korean? Mistakes while speaking it relevant? In Arabic, 'hamem' is 'pigeon' and 'hammem' is 'bathroom'. Easy to mix them up. Very easy. | ||

Balin: Yeah! Funny thing is, we moved to Germany when I was two (my dad was in the Air Force). Since I heard a lot of German, and because I was at that age when you're learning languages, I actually spoke German for a bit. Then we moved back to the U.S. and I forgot all of it D= Did you wear an accessory that a Korean person wouldn't? Is the color of the item relevant? If so: Primary color? Secondary? Tertiary? | ||

Did you wear something that they would associate with much older people? Much younger people? People of a different social class? Is a particular item of clothing, or what you wore more generally? But virtually no one on Korea dresses that way anymore. In Seoul, men wear business suits, women wear Western-style dresses, and college students wear jeans & t-shirts, often with imprinted with English messages! So I was just about the only person in Seoul who looked like a traditional Korean, if you didn't look at my face. Sorry it was so easy, but maybe my next one won't be. Check it out!! | ||
