Hello! Thought I'd celebrate my own return to the forum after a long absence with this little self-experienced one: It did feel kind of silly, but I was actually reliefed when she greeted me. |

I was expecting to be greeted, but still there was this tiny little bit of me that kind of almost feared I might not be Is she H/A/M? she isn't male, other than that, yes ;) |

Was it the fear of not being greeted that felt silly? Like, intellectually you knew that you would be greeted, but you had a silly fear you wouldn't be? Would you have looked silly if she hadn't greeted you? Did her greeting you save you from appearing silly? Did her greeting you prove to others around you that she knew you? Did it prove that she recognised you? That you were in the right place? That she was indeed who you thought she was? |

Would you have looked silly if she hadn't greeted you? I don't think that was ever really an option Did her greeting you save you from appearing silly? no Did her greeting you prove to others around you that she knew you? noish Did it prove that she recognised you? hmm, in a way... That you were in the right place? no, I knew that That she was indeed who you thought she was? I never doubted who she was, even in a silly way |

did you say something directly to her? were you talking out loud, to no-one in particular? making an announcement? shouting? singing? did you approach her? did she approach you? did you speak first? did you use a normal greeting? did you introduce yourself by name? did you say something which may have sounded nonsensical? |

I think we both said "hi" did you introduce yourself by name? we already knew each other, so there was no need did you say something which may have sounded nonsensical? well, not nonsensical, but perhaps a little weird |

Is she related to you? no Do you know her? as stated before, yes, I know her I would suggest focusing less on who she is, that is really of very little importance. It would have worked with virtually anyone. |

By not greeting you, would she have ignored you? Snubbed you? Is the situation in which you were greeted relevant? A party? A receiving line? A funeral? In public? Private? Accidental? Could someone else have had your reaction? Or is there something special about you or your relationship that caused you alone to have this reaction? |

Private? Accidental? no to all of these, except a small yesish for "public", but again, it doesn't really matter Could someone else have had your reaction? I think so, under the right circumstances Or is there something special about you or your relationship that caused you alone to have this reaction? only perhaps a bit of a vivid imagination |

Is how you and/or she were dressed relevant? no How you and/or she appeared? noish, how I kind of jokingly almost thought I appeared was relevant, though that's stretching the definition quite a bit |

Did you think that she would not recognize you for who you are? Did you think that she would not greet you because of somebody else present at the scene? The weird thing you said, was it before or after you said "hi"? Before or after she said "hi"? |

Before or after she said "hi"? to sum up: we both said hi, then I told her about this weird fear I sort of had that she wouldn't greet me (though I didn't really seriously think she wouldn't), and it did feel kind of silly - but there was an actual sense of relief there |

Been a long while without any questions here, so here comes a quick recap, and if there aren't any more questions soon I will $P0YL£ it. I arrived at a particular place (actually it was a place I work, but that isn't really important) and was greeted by someone there (not important who, if you want to know, it was my boss). Before I got there something had happened to me that made me kind of fear that she might not greet me at all. It was a very unrealistic scenario to imagine, and I felt very silly when I told her about this. But I have to say, I actually was kind of relieved when she did greet me. Now, what had happened to me this day that made me so relieved that someone would greet me? |

something? yes! had you not been able to get through a security gate or door? that's close enough, I think did your pass not work? An animal? Had a dog that normally likes you barked at you or similar? no and no I believe this is close enough for me to announce a... ******SPOILER****** On my way to one of the places I work, I usually take a short-cut through a shopping mall. On this occation, when I was to enter the optically activated sliding doors, they wouldn't open. Another man approached the doors, they opened just like that and I followed. At the other end of the mall, another pair of sliding doors await me - and AGAIN they refuse to open. I step back and forth and even jump around on the spot waving my arms, but no reaction. Finally another customer approaches, and again the doors open without any problems. Finally: the entrance to the building I work in is also optically activated. And when for the third time I was ignored by the optical sensors, I kind of started to worry that I was becoming invicible. So, when my boss greeted me, acknowledging that she could actually SEE me, I was kind of relieved. I did feel a bit silly for even having thought of the idea, though. Tell the truth, this episode really was a bit creepy. I still have no clue why the optical doors suddenly seemed to have it in for me. |
