I have a friend who never wants to become president for a very unusual reason. What's the reason? |

Is the title relevant? president - of the United States? some other country? "I" - you, Kyeannpepper? "a friend" - H/A/M? F? According to a puzzle by Nimue, president is one of the most dangerous jobs because ~9% of all presidents have died in office. Anything to do with that? Does your friend think that media will reveal an embarrassing secret if s/he became president? |

"a friend" - H/A/M? F? HAF, yes According to a puzzle by Nimue, president is one of the most dangerous jobs because ~9% of all presidents have died in office. Anything to do with that? No, but a very interesting fact. Does your friend think that media will reveal an embarrassing secret if s/he became president? No. |

Does it have to do with a phobia of hers? For example, a fear of flying, and as president, she would have to fly a lot? Would she also not want to be another well-known person (e.g. a famous actor or singer)? Does the reason have to do with politics? Political parties? Is any of the following relevant: Her name? physical appearance? family background? hobbies? Is her relationship status relevant? If so, single? in a relationship? married? divorced? widowed? Does she have kids? Relevant? |

Does it have to do with the invasion of privacy most public figures have to endure? Would the general public find out some embarrassing habit of hers? Is her reason for not wanting to be the president a problem that is strictly inherent to the Presidency? Or is it a problem that could apply to other jobs? i.e. Would she hate having to wear a suit every day? Is there a particular aspect of the President's job that her reason is associated with? I.e. Talking to foreign leaders? Signing bills? Or a more something more general? i.e. Public speaking? |

Was the President who she sounds like unpopular? Or is the ish because the person she shared a name with was not a President? A candidate? Vice President? First Lady? Other politician? Is it only her surname that's relevant ? Is her job relevant? Does a president's other titles e.g Commander in Chief have anything to do with it? Are the terms 'ex-president' or 'former president' relevant? Would the fact that she'd be the first woman president have anything to do with it? Is she married? I guess if she was president her husband would be the first man , relevant? |

would her first name have to used often,to distinguish her from the other president with the same last name, so she would have to constantly cope with her name being misspelled? Not quite, but so close that I'll post the **********SPOILER********** My friend once had to memorize some of the more recent presidents for school. Although for most of them she just had to memorize the last names, if there were two presidents with the same last name, she had to memorize the first name as well. Since there has already been a president with this last name, and her name is spelled in an odd way, all the schoolchildren memorizing lists of presidents would have to memorize how to spell her name. So she remarked that she would never want to become president for this reason. The title, if you're wondering, is mostly random other than the number 19, which is the digits of the friend's house number (559) added. And yes, this is the same friend who inspired the pab-bap neologism. |

I'm sorry, I don't understand. Van Buren is spelled like this (both in your friend's name, as in the president's.) You also said that your friend's first name is relevant. Is it Martina? Where is the mispelling? I am not a native speaker of English, so it might be a play on words that I don't understand...

I'm sorry, I don't understand. Van Buren is spelled like this (both in your friend's name, as in the president's.) Right. You also said that your friend's first name is relevant. Is it Martina? Where is the mispelling? There isn't an actual misspelling, her first name is just spelled in an unusual way. Like spelling Sheryl Sherul instead. So let's pretend my friend is named Sherul Van Buren. Okay, so Sherul once had to memorize a list of presidents. Most of them she just had to memorize the last name. However, if there were two with the same last name, she had to memorize the first name as well. Since there's already been a president with the last name of Van Buren, any kids memorizing a list of presidents would have to memorize her first name as well. Since it's spelled in an odd way, they'd have to remember how to spell her name. I am not a native speaker of English, so it might be a play on words that I don't understand...No problem. |
