Was he planning to kidnap/kill her? Not her, specifically Someone else? Anyone? Planning, I don't know. But that was what happened Was she a victim of wrong place/wrong time? Maybe Had she just gotten off a flight? Yes I think we have enough for a ******* SPOILER ******* Last month, a 20-year Japanese student arrived here (part of some intercultural exchange or something), in order to teach Japanese to some students from another city of the country. The journey was not simple, she had to arrive at Bucharest International, take a cab to the train station, board a train for the city situated 300 km away -- all in the middle of the night and not being welcomed by anyone. Approached by a stranger who offered to guide her, she readily accepted -- only to be found out next day raped, robbed and killed in a nearby forest. This caused much debate. The killer has been apprehended. But I still don't understand how - coming from another continent, to a country of which you don't know anything, carrying luggage after you, being a 20-year old woman, in the middle of the night, with nobody around you -- you accept the offer of a perfect stranger. Sad story. Anyway, thanks to all for playing and to Balin for the final solve.

Sad story indeed. What I don't understand is why there was nobody at the airport to pick her up. If you're the institution organising the exchange, you should have enough common sense to send someone to pick up a 20-year-old girl who arrives in the middle of the night :| |

Indeed, Doriana, I don't understand also why nobody was there to pick her up. However, I am not familiar with what the contract between them said -- but she sadly met her fate in a most horrible way. |

How awful, I am so sorry for her. As much of a Monday morning footballer I might be, I cannot tell for sure whether I would be wise enough NOT to accept his offer in her situation. |
