He was lyin' but he was telling the truth when he described himself. He was not mythical, but he was telling the truth when he described himself. |

Actually happened? Artificial intelligence relevant? In both sentences of the puzzle statement, did he describe himself in the same way? Are there more possible sentences that could be added to the puzzle statement, that end with the same "but he was telling the truth".., that could be added without changing the meaning of the puzzle? An actor? |

Is he an MP? Yes, but not relevant to the puzzle. Did he say he was? He could, but he could also say he was something else, which might sound like a lie, but wasn't. The 'something else' is connected with the government, but loosely. |

But I suppose it could be called courtesy, too. So Yope. is there only one person in this position? Yes is it an honour? Yes! my favorites are Privy Councillor and Commander of the Bath. Not these, but sort of similar. is the mythical reference a creature? yes |

Am I right that Lord Lyon King of Arms is the title that refers to the lion? Yes and the man had another title that refers to a mythical creature? Yes! Did he have both titles at the same time? There may have been some overlap, but n.r. Was the mythical creature: a dragon? a unicorn? this; no to the rest. *******************SPOILER*************** The late Sir Iain Moncreiffe of that Ilk was both the Lyon King of Arms and the Unicorn Pursuviant of Arms. "He put Unicorn under 'occupation' on his passport, and a stewardess asked him what it meant. He explained that a unicorn was a beast who could only be caught when he laid his horn in a maiden's lap, whereupon the young stewardess blushed deeply." Congrats to Sundowner, & thanks to all the other anglophiles who took part1 |
