RECAP I yopishly saw a picture of Balin in a yet to be determined kind of print media. It was neither a photo of our forum member Balin, nor a picture of his namesake, the Lord of the Rings character. If I remember correctly, what I saw was a photo of a billboard - might as well have been a photo of a newspaper, not really relevant. Where did I see the picture and what did I see exactly? |

Was it the place name exactly "Balin"? Or something like Balingen? Or the name of the place was some other, but "Balin" was part of the words alongside it? see below Was it the place known in many other parts of the world as "Berlin"? yes! ********SPOILER******** For one of my linguistics classes, I had to read a book that also contained some photos. One showed a billboard or headline (I don't remember exactly) saying "Det is Balin", which is Berlin dialect for "This is Berlin". So for a second I thought, "This is the last place where I'd expect an LTPF member"... but apparently, you guys are everywhere (; Nice work, folks! Pleeeease have a look at my puzzle "136" which hasn't seen any new questions in ages! |
