Is she an adult woman? Child? Teenager? Is she popular in the sense that she has a lot of friends? That almost everyone who knows her likes her? Is she professionally popular? A popular choice for one specific thing? Is her job relevant? Her name? Do they think she is like a specific restaurant? |

By professionally popular I meant, for example getting a lot of clients without necessarily having a lot of friends (eg a popular hairdresser would just be one who a lot of people go to). Do people want to be her friend, or to be associated with her, even if they don't like her? Do most people dislike her? Is a particular advertising slogan relevant? Is the restaurant a fast food one? An upscale one? A chain of restaurants? Is the food served by the restaurant relevant? The branding? The service? The set-up (eg self-service vs waiter service)? |

I would say that cruel means deliberately causing or allowing others to suffer, mean is more to do with not being generous. I'm not very much into guruism, so I'm hardly the right person to answer that rhetorical question. I think it is a quite esotheric godly imperative to Man that he shall love and do good towards all, and so in turn will he and all benefit from that. The guru probably would (but now I'm only guessing) predict that if people showed Hitler a deep enough love, it would have conquered and overpowered his bad thoughts and acts. I guess you'd better read about this from a more direct source, and you can for instance start here: http://www.saidarshan.org/baba/docs/lasa.html BTW: As an act of love and service, I offer you my very best wishes for the New Year! May your life prosper and may your mind and soul flourish to create a profliferation of great lateral puzzles in 2013! (Was this guruish enough? I wonder...) The invisible God |

Is the well known phrase an idiom? Do people wait for her? Do they think she is always busy? Do they think she is pretty? in a position of power? has a lot of sex? Do the people that compare her to a restaurant wish to benefit from the same elevation in status that they believe she provides? Do people actually acquire this elevation in status due to her? would those people make this comparison between her and a restaurant? Would it be unkind to make this comparison in front of her? Is it generally perceived as an insult? a compliment? Relevant whether or not what people believe of her is true? |

Is she like it in that some people choose not to hang out with her precisely because she is popular? If so, because they will be in a crowd? Because they don't like her other friends? Does someone say about her 'nobody likes her any more, she's too popular' or similar? |

It's too crowded," which inspired (?) the poem below (It was in The Providence Journal, 12/11/12) Because She's So Popular She's welcomed and flattered and favored and kissed. She's always invited; she's first on the list. She glides through the envy that always awaits her. Because she's so popular, everyone hates her. Please be inspired to check out my new puzzle!! |
