Was the car: legally parked? Illegally parked? At John's home? In the street? In a parking lot? In a garage? |

No, according to common understanding of "convenient". Did it turn out the way the criminals intended? Yes. Was the car: legally parked? Illegally parked? This is closest. At John's home? In the street? In a parking lot? In a garage? No to all these places. |

Galfisk: Was moving the car the only crime committed? No, very good question. Or was it moved in order to commit another crime? No. Was it in the way? No. Was it lifted and carried by people only? Or was a machine used? Or human-powered apparatus? Such as a block and tackle? The method is unknown and rather irrelevant. Probably there was a machine used. |

Just the normal car equipment. Was the space the car occupied used for anything relevant, after it was moved? No. Was it parked on top of something relevant? No. A manhole? Relevant where they put the car? Yes. Was the other crime committed: where the car was before? This, but may be misleading. Where car was moved to? Near any of the above? Somewhere else? Was it moved in order to: frame John? No. Provide an alibi? No. Shez: did John steal the car No. and then someone stole it from him? Yes, having in mind that the car was only moved. |

John's crime: traffic-related? Did he participate in the other crime? Was the other crime committed after the car was moved? Did all the people moving the car participate in another crime? Did moving the car cause the other crime? Was it a requirement for the other crime? Or was it unrelated? Was the car move in order to: hide it? Confuse someone? Block traffic? Block something else? would it have been damaged, had it not been moved? |

No. Did all the people moving the car participate in another crime? No. Did moving the car cause the other crime? No and this is worth exploring. Was it a requirement for the other crime? No. Or was it unrelated? It was related. Was the car move in order to: hide it? Confuse someone? Block traffic? Block something else? None of these, but blocking something else is somehow OTRT. would it have been damaged, had it not been moved? No. |

Was the car blocking something? If so: before it was moved? After it was moved? If not: was something else blocking something? If so: before? After? Both? Surveillance relevant? Blocking a view? Did the other crime cause moving the car? Did any of the people moving the car participate in the other crime? Was a car involved in the other crime? Or some other vehicle? Blocking traffic relevant? Was the car moved because John participated in the other crime? Was it evidence? Did he drive it: before his crime? After his crime? Relevant? Did this happen in a city? In the country? In another location? Relevant where? Did moving the car solve a problem? Did more people participate in the moving than in the other crime? Relevant? |

Galfisk: Was it John alone who committed the first crime? Yes, but there is also a FA. Did he use his car to commit this crime? Yes, with respect to the same FA. When the car was taken, was it put: on top of something relevant? This. Underneath something relevant? Inside something relevant? Was it altered in any way? No. Was anything left attached to it? No. Was anything removed from it? No. Was he punished by victims of the first crime? Yes, the same FA. If so, were all participants victims? No, but this is not much relevant. Did the punishment fit the crime? Yes, at least in my opinion. |

Galfisk: FA: was it not a crime as such? Most of John's actions were criminal offences. Was it something that annoyed people? But this too. That broke a rule rather than a law? And this too. Did John do it: once? Many times? continuously? FA cleared. Many times or continuously, DOYD. The relevant thing is that it was not a singular act. Was it a parking violation? No. Was the car put on top of: another car? A building? A hill? Something underground? Something owned by John? Or otherwise related to him? No to these. |

I'm coming in late on this one and may be repetitive with some Q's so bear with me... John had been observed driving dangerously? By other people who lived near him? By the police? In order to hopefully discourage him from doing this again, a group of people did something to teach him a lesson? Was John inside the car when it was moved? Was he near the car when it was moved? Was the car moved with the help of a tow truck? A crane? Was the car moved from one place on ground level to another place on ground level? Or was it moved from ground level to a higher elevation? To a lower elevation? |

Was it put on a: manmade structure? Landscape feature? This. On ice? On a rock? On a road? Animals involved? No to the rest. Ixoye: I'm coming in late on this one and may be repetitive with some Q's so bear with me... Welcome to the puzzle. John had been observed driving dangerously? Yes. By other people who lived near him? Yes. By the police? Possibly, but irrelevant. In order to hopefully discourage him from doing this again, a group of people did something to teach him a lesson? Yes. Was John inside the car when it was moved? No. Was he near the car when it was moved? No. Was the car moved with the help of a tow truck? A crane? The text didn't reveal how it was moved. I guess a crane. Was the car moved from one place on ground level to another place on ground level? No. Or was it moved from ground level to a higher elevation? This. To a lower elevation? |

John always drove like a maniac, and often drunk. His neighbors, fed up with this behavior, and scared that he would end up hurting or killing someone, got together one time while he was drinking, and placed his car in a tree. John did not drive drunk that day. |

His neighbors, fed up with this behavior, and scared that he would end up hurting or killing someone, got together one time while he was drinking, and placed his car in a tree. John did not drive drunk that day. Neither that, nor any other day. He understood the lesson. That's absolutely right. And coming back to the puzzle statement, John could not even complain - because he was the true villain in the story and he would have had to confess about all his driving crimes. ********************SPOILER************* Thanks to all participants and congrats to Galfisk for solving the puzzle. |
