As a child, I would often spend the night at my grandparents' place. When I was about 5 years old, I got a bed of my own in their spare bedroom, instead of sharing the bed with them. However, after a couple of months, I decided to sleep in their bed again. How come? |

Did you feel anything unusual? Did something scare you? Was it too: cold? Lonely? Dark? Uncomfortable? Scary? Dangerous? Far away? Too far from something? Such as the toilet? Is something on the way to/from the bed relevant? If so: something in the same room as the bed? Something else? Is something outside the house relevant? |

Or, possibly, did they keep a television on, which helped put you back to sleep? And, thinking of sounds... I remember sleeping at my own grandma's place and being woken by the sound of the rooster, which I couldn't hear in her bedroom. You were asked if there had been an unusual noise. Was there a USUAL noise? |

Did you try to 'trap' the would-be offender by moving out of your room but letting, let's say, the windows open, so that you can discover the next morning traces of the animal in your bedroom? Did you explain to your grandparents the reason for moving out? Relevant? The minor detail remaining -- is it a characteristic of the species? If so, a real one, or a miconception? Would have you acted in the same way if there were foxes involved (provided that you also had seen a documentary saying that they are known to carry diseases and use to enter the rooms)? What if the animals involved were bears - same reaction? |

Did you think that something at your grandparents' house can attract racoons? Did you think the racoons know when you're inside? Did the documentary mention reasons why racoons attack houses? Is that relevant? |

The length of the documentary? When it was shown? Whether you watched it on TV or DVD etc? The channel it was on? Who it was made by? The way it was filmed? The reason you watched it? |

Relevant aspect of thinking like a five year old - that children think they're "the center of the universe"? Relevant aspect of the documentary: where you were when you watched it? who told you to watch it? with whom you were? |

Did you watch the documentary at your grandparent's place? Did you, therefore, think the racoons were around there, but not around your own home? |

Did you watch the documentary at your grandparent's place? yes! Did you, therefore, think the racoons were around there, but not around your own home? yes! Finally I can declare the ********SPOILER******** When I was about five years old and had just got used to sleeping in a bed of my own at my grandparents' place, my grandpa watched a documentary about racoons on TV. Being a curious child, I joined him. They said all sorts of things about racoons, but I only remembered two of them: That they carry rabies and that they can climb up sewage systems to gain access to houses. My bedroom at my grandparents' place was right next to the bathroom, so I figured they would bite me first in case they made it to the first floor. Also, the danger only existed at their house because I had watched the documentary there and therefore assumed they would only be around there, not around my place. That's why I moved back to my grandparents' room. Thanks for playing and for your patience, well done =) |
