Why is there a pair of shoes in Trevor's chimney? This is taken from the plot of a novel, so if you've read it, please don't spoil straight away! |

so he skied there, did the murder, hid the boots then left on foot, coming back much later? was walking there his alibi? like he couldn't have done the murder because he was still on his way in the snow? Yes! I think that's all the main points *****SPOILER***** Ron wanted to kill his friend Trevor, but needed an alibi. Fortunately for Ron, he lives in an isolated house outside of the village where Trevor lives, and it was snowing. Ron organised a gathering at his house, then claimed to have a reason to be worried about Trevor and set off to check on him. He secretly fastened on his skis, whizzed down and killed Trevor. Then he left and came back later, pretending to have just arrived on foot, and fetched a policeman to 'discover' Trevor's body. So long as nobody realised he had skied there he had an alibi for the time of death, since the journey would have taken several hours on foot. So he put his skis in the cupboard where Trevor kept his, and hid Trevor's ski boots, in case the sight of them led someone's mind to skiing or in case they realised that the boots would not fit both pairs of skis in the cupboard. This is taken from the plot of an Agatha Christie novel, which I hope I haven't just ruined for anyone reading it! |

I'd pronounce it SIT-uh-fud, but I don't believe it to be a real place so that's just how I naturally read it. I quite like the book as it's one of the ones set in the landscape Christie lived in which is right by my hometown. |
